ZACH Clough is looking for his first hat-trick in Wanderers colours when they face Sheffield United in the FA Cup.

After scoring in his last two games, the 21-year-old striker wants his streak to continue on Sunday, as Phil Parkinson’s side look to book a place in the third round.

Clough burst on to the scene in the FA Cup with a goal on his debut against Wigan Athletic last year and after scoring the winner against Coventry City and Northampton Town in his last two games, is looking to make more memories in the competition.

“I love playing in the FA Cup,” he said. “It’s where I made my debut, got my first Bolton goal. It would be fantastic to get through and draw someone really special in the third round.

“The FA Cup isn’t an interference. The manager loves the competition and we’ll definitely be going all guns blazing to get in the hat.

“It’d be great to keep the run going, whatever competition. Every week now, look for the win.”

But for minor blips against Cheltenham and Peterborough last month, Wanderers’ form has been impeccable heading into the festive schedule.

Clough feels his game has developed this year with regular games and backing from his manager – convincing him it was the right decision to stay with Wanderers despite their relegation from the Championship.

“Absolutely it was,” he told The Bolton News. “I’m enjoying my football and at this stage of my career all I need is games. What happens after that will happen.

“The management have instilled a lot of confidence into us and I’m playing in a slightly different position – it feels like I am getting another string to my bow.

“I like making it difficult for the full-backs to pick me up by drifting inside and it’s also gave me a chance to score a few goals. It’s a totally different feel this season.

“We’ve managed to build some good momentum up now going towards Christmas, so hopefully we can continue it and the goals will keep coming for me.”

Ken Anderson remained in discussion as The Bolton News went to press with finance company Blumarble in an effort to confirm his purchase of Dean Holdsworth’s 40 per cent stake.
