BOLTON darter Lisa Ashton powered her way to a third British Darts Organisation world title at Lakeside today.

The 46-year-old from Johnson Fold raced to a third title in four years with a convincing 3-0 sets triumph over Australian debutante Corrine Hammond.

It capped an impressive week for the number two seed who has been in sensational form to see off all challengers and reclaim the trophy she won in 2014 and 2015 – and a winner's cheque of £12,000 – in front of darting daughter Danielle.

Ashton was understandably delighted to be taking the trophy back to Bolton and told Channel 4: "I'm very, very happy to win a third title.

"I've been playing well all week and it is an equal feeling to my first and second titles.

"The family have given me great support and I just keep on going."

Beaten finalist Hammond conceded: "I hoped to play a little better in the final but I am stoked to have been in it.

"Lisa is definitely the player to beat at the minute."

Watching men's darter Paul Nicholson believes the result was fully deserved and said: "Lisa is the force of women's darts at present and still the lady to beat.

"Four years from her first title, she continues to improve and deserved a third."
