WANDERERS are waiting on word from the Football League before adding at least one more player to their ranks.

Ex-Manchester City defender Reece Wabara and Bulgaria international Ivan Bandalovski have been training at Lostock in the hope of earning a contract.

Phil Parkinson needs cover in his back four, but especially at right-back, where Lawrie Wilson has now been ruled out for the season because of a severe hamstring injury.

The Whites boss insisted there were no guarantees yesterday as he spoke in the build up to tonight’s home clash with Rochdale but hoped a new signing could be confirmed by the end of the week.

“We are still working towards something – and maybe it can happen in the next couple of days,” he told The Bolton News.

Wabara featured for Barnsley and Wigan last season and earned praise for his performances for the Latics in League One.

He watched Wanderers’ 4-1 win over Walsall on Saturday and could sign a short-term deal once he gains fitness.

Parkinson was reluctant to confirm whether he would stick with a three-man defence against Rochdale – hoping the element of surprise could give him an edge against counterpart Keith Hill.

“We changed the team shape against Walsall but have to try and strike a balance between continuity and maybe freshening things up,” he said.
