BURNDEN’S Lesley Fisher won the ladies event at the Calder Vale 11-mile trail race near Preston.
The title of the race – Muddy Shoes – reflects the challenges faced by runners over the multi-terrain course and this year was even muddier than usual.
Fisher finished first lady and seventh overall in 1hr 35mins 9secs.
Don Nichol was 14th overall and second M60 in 1:42:34.
Gillian McGowan knocked more than five minutes off her 10k personal best at the Cancer Research Manchester Winter 10k.
McGowan joined more than 4,000 other runners at the start line in the shadow of Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium in east Manchester and completed the road course in 1:04:42 despite cold and windy conditions.
Dawn Evans travelled to Spain for the Barcelona Half Marathon, completing the iconic city course in a time of 2:35:52.
