CHRIS Wilder reckons opposite number Phil Parkinson got his “mind games” wrong in the build-up to Saturday’s Bramall Lane clash.

The Sheffield United boss hit out at pre-match comments made by Parkinson about the changeable mood of Blades fans in a pressurised promotion push.

“Phil must be thinking about other teams that have played here the last three or four years, trying to divide the crowd,” he said. “That was never going to happen. It was clutching a little bit. Managers do things to try and unsettle players but that was never going to unsettle our lads if he’d seen us over the last three or four months, let alone the last few games.

“I am not playing mind games. There is no division in this crowd and I am 100 per cent certain there won’t be this season – and that’s making a statement.”

Wilder was pleased with the manner of his side’s performance, as two goals from top-scorer Billy Sharp wrapped up three points.

“We let our football do the talking,” he said. “I was a bit disappointed in the first half because we got caught up with how they wanted to play. A little bit of credit to them for making it that type of game. Second half we completely dominated.

“We dismantled a decent side with a lot of good players pretty comprehensively. We have made the last two opponents look quite ordinary.

“It’s about time we won a big game against a rival because we drew at Bradford, twice against Scunthorpe, drew at Fleetwood – who are going great.”
