CANON Slade swimmers secured a third successive win in the prestigious Sutton trophy.

Organised by Manchester Grammar School and held at Stretford Leisure Centre, the Bolton school beat 10 other invited schools in the annual event.

The competition comprises two age groups, the under-15s colts and open age.

Canon Slade first won the trophy in 1999 and this year pipped nearest rivals St Ambrose College by just two points.

The colts medley relay team of Harry Robinson (backstroke), Jake Reynolds (breaststroke), Abi Harrop (butterfly) and Alisha Hogan (freestyle) won the final in 2mins 8.2secs.

The open-age medley relay team of Gabe Glynn (backstroke), Charlotte Hulme (breaststroke), Ben Gregory (butterfly) and Ben Clark-Davidson (freestyle) were third in the final in 2:05.10.

In the freestyle relay, colts Harrop, Robinson, Hogan and Reynolds swam 1:58.86 to finish third, while the open-age team of Maya Ezra Essien, Clark-Davidson, Glynn and Gregory were fifth in 1:53.89.
