DAISY Hill FC are hoping long-awaited improvements to the car park at their New Sirs base will soon be completed.

The club have worked hard for 18 months to get funding to refurbish facilities and work finally started a fortnight ago.

Club secretary Bob Naylor says the project is costing in the region of £40,000 with half of the cost supplied by Viridor Credits Environmental Company and the other half coming from the Football Foundation.

And he believes once finished it will be a huge boost to the Hallmark Security League First Division side.

Mr Naylor told The Bolton News: "We have had to be patient and overcome many hurdles but the work has finally started and we are grateful to Viridor and the Football Foundation for the funding.

"Once finished in the next few weeks, it will provide more car parking for us and mean people will not have to wear wellies when they park here!

"It will take cars off the local streets and hopefully attract more people to our games.

"Fans will see a big difference, I'm sure."
