LADYBRIDGE under-18s are on course for a triumphant end to their time together.

The club’s high-achieving team have gone through the Lancashire Sunday League Youth Division Red season unbeaten and have added to their impressive endeavours with a place in the final of the league’s Syndicate Trust Youth Cup.

The Yellows earned their spot with a 3-1 win against Clitheroe in the semi-final at Fulwood Amateurs FC.

Connor Elliott fired his side ahead in the first minute but Clitheroe drew level from the penalty spot 10 minutes later. They restored their lead midway through the first half with a goal from Matty Leatham and victory was secured when Luke McGrath made it 3-1 15 minutes from time.

As they prepare to go their separate ways, some progressing to open-age football, they are now looking forward to the final, in which they will take on AFC Fylde at Bamber Bridge’s ground on April 5, kick off 7pm.

As Fylde top the Blue Division in the league it promises to be a great match between two strong teams.

“The lads have been fantastic so far this season,” said manager Jim McGrath. “We have been working with them for a few years now and their success is something they will remember for a long time.”
