A DOZEN matches in the BSF Over-35s League went ahead on Sunday, including a Division Two Cup semi-final in which goals by John Gilmartin and Leon Hamilton sent Mersey Valley B through to the final with a 2-1 home win against Radcliffe Old Boys A.

In the league games, two of the top three in Division One won. Leaders Hindsford Vets won 5-0 at Bamford Arms as Dave Fashou scored four and Kevin Gall the other.

Second-placed Bar Hill kept up the pressure with a convincing 4-0 win at third-placed Salford Victoria thanks to Massey, Hughes, Smith and Gilmartin. They are four points off the lead with two games in hand.

Mersey Valley A moved five points clear of hosts North Walkden with a 3-2 win. Ian Mollineaux and Darren Wheeley scored for North Walkden, but Dave Fahey, Michael Coates and Wayne Barlow struck to give the visitors the points.

In Division Two, bottom side Deans Youth and Ladies suffered another heavy defeat, 10-0 to Bolton Lads and Girls Club. Wes Gallagher scored four, Alan Mitchell and Stuart Falsaya each struck twice while Rob Knight and Lee Berry added one apiece.

Astley Bridge remained on track to win Division Two as Des Wilcox scored the only goal of the game for victory over Old Boltonians.

Danny Adamson and Mark Westhead scored for second-placed Radcliffe Vets at home to Ainsworth A, but their efforts were cancelled out by the hosts’ goals, so Radcliffe missed the chance to put daylight between themselves and Mersey Valley B.

Heaton Vets won 3-1 at home to Golborne Parkside, but Alan Hall’s goal for the visitors prevented them keeping a clean sheet.

Two Division Three games finished as 8-2 home wins. Nathan Connelly and Paul Drennan each scored a hat-trick for Radcliffe Old Boys B, Mark Owen and Mark Woodford also netting against Bolton Wyresdale.

Home Guard Failsworth Vets beat Bury Seniors by the same scoreline. Andy Yeomans and Lee Donaghoe each scored two, and Danny McCarthy, Ben Johnson and Aaron Connelly added one apiece with an own goal making it eight.

Second-placed Heaton Casuals and second-bottom PF Bury Vets shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Tommy Cannon and Tony McCormack scored for Heaton, with Brian Healey and Paul Worsley on target for the visitors.

Ainsworth B are just four points behind after Anthony Grinrod, Michael Jefferson and Paul Cannon goals gave them a 3-0 win at bottom team Elton Liberal.
