MONDAY evening saw a number of unfinished games in the BSF League due to the failing light.

The first evening of the new season saw Accross Ladies take on Adlington Cricket Club. Some excellent fielding by both teams meant Accross Ladies held a 19-point lead at half time.

In the second innings, Accross batters Justine Johnson, who scored 52, and her daughter Porsha, making her Rounders League debut and who scored 31, were the home team’s high scorers.

Impressive scores were also seen in the Section M match between Tonge Fold and 25th Bolton.

Tonge players Vikki Fox (59 points), Dena Lowe (50), Kath Slater (37) and Debbie Fletcher (33) were the stand-out batters as they helped their team to an innings victory.

In Section N, high scorers in the Farnworth Ladies v TLC Ladies led them to victory, also with an innings to spare, with Katie Challender and Amanda Anderton scoring 55 and 54 respectively.

Future XI had to bat again for just four points against Carestaff, thanks to 17 each from Vicky Heap and Kirsty Yates.

Future’s first innings saw them knock up 106 points with Abbie Smith’s big hitting getting her five rounders towards her 41-point innings total.

Clifton Designs, in Section I, racked up 233 in one innings in their match against Kearsley Cricket Club.

That looks fairly impressive, but Kearsley were four players short and if they had hung on a while longer bad light would have meant their opponents’ high score would have counted for nothing.
