BOLTON United Harriers won the senior men’s team prize among the 598-strong field in a wet Salford 10K on Good Friday.

The leading four obliterated their personal bests, with first counter Jonny Kay in overall sixth position, knocking more than two minutes off his lifetime best.

Karl Darcy beat his PB by 28 seconds, while Tommy Harrison (one minute) and John Knowles (88 seconds) followed in a similar vein.

Catherine O’Dwyer was seventh in the women’s race.

The Easter running tradition of “roundin’ t’ Pike” saw seven Blue Vests among the 371 field at the Rivington Pike fell race.

Tommy Harrison led the squad with a top-10 finish, while Nicky Cartridge, Katie Oakley and Liz Proctor collected the women’s team prize with 23 points ahead of Leigh’s 48.

Paul Mills enjoyed his Pike debut, while Lee Petch and David Morrison were the final counters for the men’s team that placed 13th.

The Easter Bank Holiday also saw three Blue Vests finish the scenic, flat Hollingworth Lake 5K among the 219 field.
