THERE was a contentious 3-1 home defeat for Bolton Wyresdale on Saturday, but manager Aamar Ahmed says there is no shame in losing to the side he believes will take the Lancashire Amateur League Division One title.
Wyresdale had taken the lead, when Kyle Bailey latched onto Cameron Smith’s ball over the top and finished smartly, but they were pegged back by the leaders shortly before half time.
“A couple of decisions went against us after that,” said Ahmed. “We felt the second was offside and with the third the ref said the ball crossed the line but our goalkeeper said no way.
“We have to accept it though, and it was a tough game against the team I think will win the league. As for us, we have done a lot better than we were expected to, we’ve got a very young squad and these lads are still learning. The difference on Saturday was Roach’s experience, that’s what told in the end.
“We have some very good players but it is the decision making that let them down, as is the case with players this young.
“We’ve flirted with relegation for the last two years so to be up in fourth is a lot better, obviously I’m pleased with that and if we can keep these lads together we feel we can challenge next year.”
Wyresdale go to Dynamos’ nearest challengers, Prestwich, this Saturday.
