JEM Karacan’s match-winning efforts in the last two games of the season substantiated Wanderers’ efforts to land him, says Phil Parkinson.

Ken Anderson had to battle with the Football League to land the former Reading man but Darren Pratley’s fine form kept him out of the team until last week’s win at Port Vale.

Karacan produced a big performance at Vale Park and then grabbed the first goal of the game on Sunday against Peterborough.

Parkinson has been delighted with his impact.

“He was outstanding and it’s been a big effort getting him into the club,” he said, “Ken, because of the embargo he had to push and push to get the extra player in.

“We knew we would need him but when he first got here Darren (Pratley) was doing really well and some people wondered why we had brought him in.

“A lot of people were trying to make it difficult for us. I think we’re the first club to get promoted under an embargo.”

Working under an embargo has been an experience to remember, said the Whites boss.

“Two days before the Sheffield United game on the opening game of the season and we didn’t know whether we were going to have our new signings registered, and we didn’t know how it would pan out” he said. “It’s been interesting, put it that way!”
