FILIPE Morais finally committed his future to Bolton Wanderers and said: “It’s the only place I really wanted to be!”

The winger, whose instant impact after signing in January helped propel Phil Parkinson’s Whites to promotion from League One, has penned new a one-year deal with the club.

It is understood an extra year is on offer if he makes a set number of appearances, which falls in line with other contracts offered this summer.

Morais made 13 assists and scored two goals in just 19 appearances last season but was one of the last members of the squad to see his contract finalised.

Speaking to Wanderers after his new deal was officially confirmed, the 31-year-old said he could not wait to get going in the Championship.

“I'm really excited at what lies ahead and so happy that it's all sorted,” he said.

“Bolton Wanderers is the only place I really wanted to be. Me and my family are over the moon that it's all done and dusted and I just can't wait to get started!”

Phil Parkinson is still in talks with Jay Spearing over a new deal, although the talks have been slow going because of holidays and should gather pace next week.

The Whites boss was happy to secure his former Bradford City charge for at least another season.

“I am pleased that we have signed Fil for next year,” he said.

“He made an excellent contribution last season and has a real determination to do well for the coming season.”
