PHIL Parkinson says there will be no let-up in Wanderers’ transfer business as he casts his eye over Arsenal striker Stephy Mavididi.

After landing Adam Armstrong on loan from Newcastle United and free agent Sammy Ameobi, the Whites boss has already turned his attentions to other targets.

Mavididi, an England youth international, spent a short time on loan at Charlton Athletic last year and is also on the wanted list at Blackburn Rovers.

Parkinson has to box clever with the transfer embargo currently restricting him to 23 senior players but confirmed the 19-year-old could come into play if he manages to land targets elsewhere.

“Stephy is another one we have looked at – and spoke about getting him last year,” he told The Bolton News.

A centre-half, a left-back and a central midfielder are also on the wanted list, with West Ham pair Josh Cullen and Reece Burke already ear-marked once they have finished pre-season with the Hammers.

“There’s lots going on,” Parkinson said. “Me and Ken had about 10 phone calls on Sunday alone. We got one over the line in Adam and maybe got a day’s breather but we’re working on several fronts.”

Parkinson has already had a busy summer, signing four new players and re-signing the likes of Jem Karacan, Andy Taylor, Gary Madine, Fil Morais, Dorian Dervite and David Wheater.

But business is far from over in the manager’s eyes – and he is targeting at least one more arrival before the season kicks-off against Leeds United.

“I think as much as the supporters can see we’re adding to it, the squad isn’t strong enough as it stands right now.

“We need more strength, we need to improve the starting 11. We’re pleased with the ones we’ve got at the moment but we want to keep our foot on the gas and get some more business done.”

Wanderers gave a trial to ex-Hull City, Leeds United and Ipswich Town defender Alex Bruce in Tuesday night’s goalless draw at AFC Fylde – and Parkinson has thus far been impressed with the 32-year-old.

“Alex came in for the week, he’s a solid player and we thought we’d have a look at him. So far he has slotted in well.”
