FIVE Bolton School boys were part of an under-14s North West team who reached the final of an international football tournament in Finland.

Harry Forshaw, Ethan Smyth, Luka Williams-Denton, Jameson Goloba and Sam Olawumi helped North England Elite independent schools team reach the last two of the Helsinki Cup where they lost on penalties to Brazil.

The competition included 87 teams from 26 countries.

Centre midfielder Forshaw, right back Smyth, left winger Olawumi and centre-midfielder Williams-Denton are all from Bolton with the first two both playing a year up.

Right winger Olawumi is in the Bolton Wanderers academy – as is the goalkeeper of the North England Elite team, Luke Hutchinson – while Forshaw is in the Wigan Athletic academy, Goloba is in Preston North End's academy and Smyth is with Manchester City's Select set-up.

The trip to Finland was organised by former Bolton School teacher Christian Windsor and Gareth Hall who both teach at Bury Grammar School.
