YOUNG Sharples wrestlers Malachy O'Rourke and Harvey Ridings carried the flag for both Great Britain and Bolton at a top European tournament.
They both finished on the podium after representing Team GB at the annual Jelgava youth championships in Latvia, claiming impressive victories over some of the continent's finest up-and-coming talent.
Thornleigh pupil Malachy, aged 16, overcame two opponents from the host country and one from Russia to win gold in the 42k category, while 12-year-old Harvey claimed bronze after winning two of his bouts and losing one at 46k.
Sharples coach Eddy Kavanagh, who will also manage the England team at next year's Commonwealth Games in Australia, said: "."
