BURNDEN’S Kirsty White delivered the fastest time as 11 members took on the gruelling Hell of a Hill marathon at Rivington.

From the five-day event’s new headquarters, there was a 3.5-mile run to the start of the five laps of Rivington Pike before the 3.5-mile run home.

White, running in her first marathon, was second female finisher and first F45 in the Saturday race in 4hrs 45mins 24secs.

Mark Jackson completed two of the marathons on successive days and was third V35 both times. He finished in 5:01:58 on Saturday and 5:12:21 on Sunday.

Lorraine Halwood completed her 35th marathon over the tough course, coming in joint fifth female finisher with Jackie Oakes, both finishing in 5:41:45, closely followed by Kris Worsley in 5:41:49.

Also on Saturday, Diane Smith was first F55 in 7:02:15, ahead of Dawn Evans in 7:56:04, Gillian McGowan, second F55 in 8:58:08, and Karen Ratcliffe in 8:58:21.

On Friday, Julie Riddle was third F50 in 6:41:41, alongside Louise Fox, second F40 in her first marathon with the same time.

Mike Watkinson led home a turnout of six members at the Remembrance Day Windmill 10K on the seafront of Lytham, covering the course in 44:40.

Kate Ellis was next in 46:21, followed by Jeff Pendlebury (52:38), Debra Hennessey (57:39), Gemma Chapman (1:05:17) and Rachael Howarth (1:18:57).
