WANDERERS Under-18s extended their unbeaten run to three matches with a 2-0 victory at Sheffield United on Saturday.

Goals from Luca Navarro and Matty Barnes sealed the win in the U18 Professional Development League Roses clash

The Blades began on the front foot playing a direct game to get the ball forward as quickly as possible.

However, the young Whites defended stoutly with Max Broughton and Ted Moulden dealing with a plethora of long balls.

At the other end, Nicky Spooner's side were pacey in attack but failed to convert the chances that came their way.

It looked like being a goalless first half but 10 minutes before the break Wanderers got their noses in front.

Eddie Brown pushed the home defence back and fired in a shot from distance that came back off the post and Luca Navarro was first to react to score from the rebound.

In the second half, Wanderers began to dominate possession and they doubled their lead on the hour mark when Barnes hit an unstoppable shot home from 12 yards.

They could have had more goals but settled for two and comfortably saw out the final half hour.

Spooner's side are back on home soil on Saturday when they host Nottingham Forest at the Eddie Davies Academy, kick off noon.
