LOSTOCK AC's new chairman Paul Speed helped the club usher in the New Year by leading the annual Haggis run from Rivington Barn on January 7.

Upwards of 30 club members, friends and family ran from Rivington Barn to Rivington Pike and then on to Two Lads for the annual new year social run, before returning by a choice of routes back to the Barn.

Prior to the Haggis Run, Lostock members had used a variety of parkruns to start their competitive running for 2018.

Tony Marlow was 14th overall and second in his age group at Cuerden Valley parkrun with a time of 22mins 47secs.

Mark Shuttleworth was equally impressive with a time of 22:21 and sixth in his age group at a strong Worsley Woods parkrun, while James Jackson was 13th overall at Heaton Park in a time of 19:24.

There was also an equally impressive start to the year for Cathy Stratton in a time of 25:14.

As a club Lostock next turn their attention to Bolton parkrun on Saturday when members will be doing a 'takeover' to publicise the Lostock 6 – the annual early-season road race organised by the club in February.
