HORWICH and Farnworth Social Circle lead the way in the University of Bolton Under-11s Indoor Competition on Sunday.

They are the only two sides out of the eight in the competition who have won both their games during the first two weeks of action.

Horwich are top by virtue of having a better average.

They beat Egerton in a close game, Horwich's 244-2 bettering their opponents' 237-4.

Social Circle got the better of Bradshaw in another competitive game, the Farnworth boys scoring 226-5 against Bradshaw's 214-3.

Heaton are third and Roe Green fourth after they followed up their opening-day defeats with wins.

Heaton amassed a big 274-1 that Blackrod (233-1) did not get close to, while Eagley's 213-4 was not enough to deny Roe Green (239-3) victory.

The competition continues for another two weeks and is the middle of three tournaments which began with the u9s last month and concludes with the u13s in March.

All the tournaments are held at Smithills Sports Centre, organised by the Bolton Cricket Development Group, sponsored by the University of Bolton and officiated by Bolton Cricket League umpires.

The Bolton Cricket Development Group Indoor Tournament has been in existence for several years but was previously only played at u11s.

Organisers have extended the competition this year by adding u9s and u13s events.
