THIS week's nostalgia picture was submitted by reader Philip Beales and features his former Crompton Fold County Primary School team from 1955.

He is hoping someone will be able to fill in some names and recognise faces on the old photograph.

He said: "The team was Crompton Fold County Primary School with the teacher on the left Mr Richardson and on the right is Mr Sewell.

"As you can see the dress code was more formal and smart then – three-piece suit, collar and tie.

"Some of the players' names I can't remember but the ones I do, from back left are, Alan Warburton (first left), John Lancaster (fourth left), Graham Goodlad (fifth left), John Cole (sixth left), Maurice Whittaker (seventh left); front, Paul Chadwick (second left), me (third left), Geoffrey Simister (fourth left), Gordon Potter (fifth left), Ian Greenhaulgh (sixth left) and David Makinson (seventh left).

"The team in the photo never lost a match.

"Maybe some of the team members will get in touch and fill in the missing names or correct the names I have given."

If you recognise any faces or can supply more details, email david.pye@nqnw.co.uk.

THIS second picture was first published on January 11 and has already evoked memories of the Bolton Schoolboys team from March 1984.

Ian Foster got in touch to add his recollections and said: "My mum keeps me well informed about the picture and I believe Andrew Gibbons has since elaborated on the team but didn't know all of them – well I do.

"Dave Price also mentioned that later I had his daughter as a babysitter. This is also true.

"The full squad, from back left, is:- Gareth Williams (Little Lever HS), Keith Welch (Sharples), Paul Mir (Thornleigh), Ste Round (Bolton School), Carl Maderick (St Augustine's), Paul Griffin (Mount St Joseph's), Dave Willetts (Bolton School), Andy Gibbons (Canon Slade), Danny Brookes (St Joseph Horwich); front, Keith Hill (Canon Slade – now Rochdale manager), me (Canon Slade), Brian Wittingham (Rivington Blackrod), Jon Senior (Mount St Joseph's), Jon Conway (St Cuthberts), Marcus Loughlin (Smithills) and Mike Thompson (George Tomlinson).

"I hope this helps – they were good times and a really good team."
