KEARSLEY, Roe Green, Horwich and Heaton kicked off the Bolton University Under-13s Indoor tournament on Sunday with victories.

On the first of four weeks of competition, Egerton proved no match for Kearsley who scored 275-2 and restricted their opponents to 234-6 to take a marginal lead in the eight-team table after one game.

Averages are naturally all that separate the four winning teams with Roe Green second after seeing off Blackrod relatively comfortably.

Blackrod's 248-0 would normally be a competitive total but it proved no problem for Roe Green who scored 281-1.

The other two games were closer, with Horwich (248-3) beating Eagley (234-3) and Heaton (271-5) just about getting the better of Bradshaw (270-4).

The competition continues for another three weeks and is the last of three tournaments which began with the u9s in January and continued with the u11s last month.

Blackrod won the youngest age group and Horwich took the u11s title.

All the tournaments are held at Smithills Sports Centre, organised by the Bolton Cricket Development Group, sponsored by the University of Bolton and officiated by Bolton Cricket League umpires.

The Bolton Cricket Development Group Indoor Tournament has been in existence for several years but was previously only played at u11s.

Organisers have extended the competition this year by adding u9s and u13s events.

This Sunday's u13s fixtures: 9am: Heaton v Horwich, Eagley v Bradshaw. 10am: Blackrod v Kearsley, Egerton v Roe Green.
