BARR Hill maintained their unbeaten record as they went through to the fourth round of the BSF Over-35s League Sam Ashworth Trophy.

The Division One leaders won 3-1 at Manor Vets, Brian Love scoring twice and Barry Massey getting the other with Leon Goodridge replying for the losers.

The other game in the competition was a one-sided affair as Radcliffe Vets thrashed Hindley Town 8-1.

Ted Crossan, Adam Greenhalgh and Paul Broome all scored two and Mark Westhead and Dave Malius one each for the victors. Craig Curless scored the consolation for the visitors.

It took penalties to separate Turton Vets and Tavern Vets in their Division Two Cup quarter-final which ended 2-2 after extra time.

John Coogan and Paul Bancroft scored for Tavern and Peter Crabtree and Darren Holt were on target for Turton who won the penalty shootout 4-3.

In Division One, bottom side Salford Waggon won their second game of the season by beating Bar Lane Bowling Club 5-3.

Matty Hyland struck two and Ian Marshall one for Bar Lane, with hat-trick star Robert Fyaz and James McGranaghan on target for Salford Waggon.

In midweek, Barr Hill dropped their first points of the season when they drew 2-2 at home to Bamford Arms.

Division Two table-toppers Radcliffe Old Boys A increased their lead, but only by a point as they drew 1-1 with Old Boltonians for whom Will Tetlow scored.

In Division Three, Dobbies B lost 3-1 at home to Radcliffe Town Vets for whom Matthew Sharples hit a hat-trick.

The bottom two, Wigan Town and Morning Star, took a point apiece from a 4-4 draw.

Dean Ainscough netted a hat-trick and Paul Fleming one for Wigan while Chris Prime scored two and Lee Madden and Gary Humphries one each for Morning Star.

Horwich St Mary’s Victoria drew level at the top of Division Three with a 7-2 demolition of Vulcan Walkden for whom James Mears and David Hudson scored.

Daniel Clarke scored a hat-trick for Horwich and Kris Arkwright, Kieran Morris Daniel Purnell and Richard Collier added one apiece.

In Division Four, Radcliffe Old Boys B kept their slim chances of the title alive as they beat Atherton Town 2-1 with Mark Owen and Mark Pratt on target.

Leaders Bolton Wyresdale won 2-1 at Ainsworth B and are three points ahead of Radcliffe with a game in hand.

Gary French and Colin Jones scored the Wyresdale goals with Steve Keane on target for Ainsworth.

Bottom side Bury Seniors lost 2-1 to PF Bury for whom Noel Coleman and Carl Kemp were the scorers.

After the elation of a victory last week, Deans Youth and Ladies came down to earth with a bang when they visited Heaton Casuals and lost 14-1.

Chris Sutcliffe scored five, Damien Smith three and Anthony McCormack, Phil Mogado, Peter O’Neil, Rob Walsh and Hugh Benson one each.

Radcliffe Old Boys B and Bury Seniors played on Thursday evening with Radcliffe winning 4-2. On the same night, PF Bury and Ainsworth B played out a 3-3 draw in the round-robin Division Three Cup.
