IN the penultimate week of Bolton Table Tennis League matches all the top teams milked as many points as they could.

In the Premier Division Glodwick, who are out of reach of the rest of the pack, had a 27-4 win against Hilton A.

Second-placed, and inevitable runners-up, Ramsbottom Town A beat Ladybridge A 26-6 with nines from Michael Moir and Andrew Jackson.

Flixton CC A, in third, had an astonishing 27-2 win against mid-table Radcliffe CC, while Ramsbottom Town B beat bottom team Burning Desire 21-14 with nines from Brian Clements and Ryan Choong.

Fifth-placed Little Lever CC A also won, 27-4 against Wharton.

In Division One, leaders Coburg beat Little Lever CC B 21-9 assisted by a nine from Chris Naylor. Second-placed Hilton B suffered an unexpected 26-11 defeat against sixth-placed Ramsbottom Town D with nines from David Kay and Keith Howarth.

With only two players in each team, fourth-placed Hilton D ran out 18-8 winners against Meadow Ben A with a nine from Matthew Fishwick.

Heaton CC A edged out Hilton E 17-16, helped by a nine from David Hall, and Farnworth SC A beat Wingates 21-13.

Division Two’s top team, Bolton TTC A, maintained their form with a 28-5 win against Top Spinners, with nines from Nayem Alam and Kirit Chauhan.

Third-placed St Paul’s Peel overcame Meadow Ben C 22-11 with a maximum from Lee Devenport but cannot make up the ground on Polonia Club A in second.

Fourth beat fifth as Meadow Ben A were 21-11 winners against Ladybridge B, aided by nines from Mike Heaton and Peter Cooper.

After borrowing a player from Division Three, Brass Zone were able to scrape a 16-13 win against Farnworth SC C, largely due to Roger Bertrand’s nine games.

In Division Three, Walkden Methodists beat Irlam Steel SC 23-12 with nines from Carl Bennett and Steve Kelsall.

Now established in second place, Hilton F beat their own third-placed junior H team 17-13 despite a nine from Jei Makino.

Meadow Hill A lost 17-15 to Hilton G, assisted by a nine from Hilton’s Martyn Rolling.

Polonia Club B who have climbed to mid-table, beat Farnworth SC D with a maximum score of 27-6.

Meadow Ben D beat Ladybridge C 17-14 despite a resisting nine from Brian Greenhalgh and Albany took advantage of the side at the bottom of the table, a two-man Meadow Hill B, to run out 27-1 winners.
