NORTHERN League Champions Astley and Tyldesley raced to another treble of victories in Sunday’s Northern League fixture at Bury, to maintain their 100-per-cent record at all levels.

A&T – who swept Stockport aside in their opening meeting – recorded a convincing 102-75 win in the Division One match.

The scores were level after heat two, but A&T banged in five heat wins in the next six races, to hold a commanding 47-32 lead at the interval.

The visitors then posted three maximums in the second half, to lead 88-60 going into the three nominated races.

Team Green took 6-4 wins in heats 16 and 18, either side of Bury scoring a consolation 7-2 win in heat 17.

Polish flyer Pawel Idziorek was once again in top form, recording a bonus maximum, with solid scores from the rest of the team, particularly Kyle Holland (19 points) and Steve Harris (18 and two bonuses).

Special mention goes to Ciaran Collins, who lost just once to an opponent, in an impressive return to the team after a lengthy absence, collecting 12 points and two bonuses.

The hard work put in by A&T riders in pre-season clearly showed in their superior speed and fitness.

The Division Two match was a closer affair, as defending champions A&T beat last year’s runners-up Bury 78-69.

The first two heats were shared, before A&T took four 6-4’s in the next six races, to lead 44-36 at the break.

A&T extended their lead in the second half, before Bury took a 7-3 win in the last race. Mark Grantham and Max Evans led the A&T charge with 15 points each, with Mick Knowles scoring 13.

A&T romped to a big win in the Division Three match, 136-24 the final score.

John White, of A&T, and Bury’s Harry Radford did not meet each other, and both raced unbeaten.

White scored 16, Tom Morrissey 14 and Charlie Burgess, Frank White and Duncan Whalley got 13 points each.

Steve Harris and Kyle Holland scored 14 and eight points, respectively, in the opening round of the HSBC UK Elite Grand Prix series at Sheffield on Saturday.

Defending champion Josh Brooke won the opening round.

A&T stage the opening round of the A&T Go-Ride Grand Prix series at Gin Pit, on Tuesday.
