WANDERERS Under-18s go into tomorrow's U18 Professional Development League Two North title decider against second-placed Leeds United a point clear of the Yorkshire side.

Nicky Spooner's team drew 3-3 at Crewe on Wednesday to extend their unbeaten run to nine games.

And it means they sit one point clear of Leeds at the summit ahead of the top two's clash at the Eddie Davies Academy, kick off 11am.

At Crewe, the young Whites began brightly and had chances inside the first five minutes with Luca Connell, Ronan Darcy and Matt Fearnley all going close.

And Fearnley almost gave the visitors the lead on eight minutes after he got on the end of a Darcy cross after he had got in behind the Crewe defence.

But two minutes later, the hosts broke the deadlock from their first attack.

Wanderers remained positive and the response was instant with Laurence Smith scoring from distance within a minute of the restart to level the scores.

But they fell behind again after a misunderstanding at the back.

Again, they were soon back on level terms when Crewe's own defensive error was pounced upon by Darcy to make it 2-2 at the break.

In the second half, Wanderers enjoyed the lion's share of possession but could not find a way through and another break by the hosts resulted in a third goal.

Wanderers pushed for a third equaliser and Eddie Brown and Cameron Moore went close.

Then, on the hour mark, Fearnley tries his luck from distance and levelled again.

The game became stretched as both teams looked for a winner but the spoils were shared meaning Wanderers stay on top needing to avoid defeat to be crowned champions this weekend.
