THE better weather allowed the BSF Over-35s League to complete 13 matches on Sunday.

In the Sam Ashworth Trophy quarter-finals, Division Four side Heaton Casuals pushed Bamford Arms of Division One all the way before losing 4-3.

Chris Sutcliffe scored a brace and Rob Walsh one for Heaton, while Jordan, Peters, Jermaine Peters, Paul Brown and Daz Smith goals saw the First Division side through.

The same competition saw Radcliffe Town of Division Three lose at home to Radcliffe Vets from the division above them.

Mark Ayres, Ryan Burrows and Karl Beswick were on target to give Radcliffe Vets a 3-0 victory.

The Division Two Cup semi-finals saw Old Boltonians beat Dobbies A 2-1 as Ferghal Smith and Neil Seddon scored for Old Bolts and Anthony Doran reply.

It was a bad day for Dobbies whose B team went down 4-2 to Wigan Town in a Division Three Cup match. Mike Lonsdale and Mark Longshaw scored for Dobbies but they were undone by a Dean Ainscough hat-trick and a Rob Carey goal.

The Division One league match between Bar Lane Bowling Club and Queen Lizzy went the way of Bar Lane thanks to Matty Hyland, Mark Horridge and Ian Marshall earning them a 3-1 home win.

Two games involving both Salford teams produced 22 goals. Salford Victoria had a convincing 9-3 victory over Irlam Steel, and third-placed Manor Vets beat Salford Waggon lost 6-4.

Mark Bailey scored four for Salford Victoria while John Smith and Carl O’Malley each scored two and Tony Weall one, to crush Irlam Steele despite a Lee Newbould double and a Ste Bates effort.

A Pete Lock hat-trick and an own goal gave Salford Waggon four at home to Manor Vets for whom Michael Coates scored a brace, added to by one each from Leon Hamilton, Dion Goodridge, Daniel Abucewicz and Merek Adamiuk.

The two bottom sides in Division Two, Hindley Town and Tavern Vets drew 2-2. Stu Gaskill and Warren Collier scored for Hindley Town, and Ian Crosswell and an own goal levelled matters.

The only game in Division Three saw Home Guard Failsworth beat Horwich St Mary’s Victoria 1-0 to put them level at the top on both points and goal difference.

Both have three games to play and with third-placed Dobbies also in the mix, any one of the three could win the division.

The three games in Division Four went to form with leaders Bolton Wyresdale recording a comfortable 6-1 win at P.F. Bury for whom Tony Dunn scored.

On-fire Aaron McCarthy hit five for Wyresdale and Gaz French got the other.

Nathan Cormley scored both goals for second-placed Radcliffe Old Boys B, who have now completed their games, as they beat Deans Youth and Ladies, and Atherton Town showed no mercy as they trounced bottom side Bury Seniors 7-1.

With two matches still to play, Atherton could overhaul Radcliffe to take second place.
