LOSTOCK AC members James Jackson, Cathy Stratton and Jack Bibby took their triathlon racing to the next level when they completed their first middle distance/half Ironman races last weekend.

Jackson and Stratton headed to Lancaster for the Epic Man Triathlon and a very hilly 56-mile bike route around the Trough of Bowland.

Jackson completed his 1.2-mile swim in 53mins 34secs, had a bike time of 3:36:31 and ran the half marathon in 1:53:15 for an overall time of 6:33:55.

Stratton covered the same distances in 48:42, 4:38:58 and 2:33:06 with an overall time of 8:08:45.

Bibby headed to Stafford for Ironman 70.3 Staffordshire where he finished 417th overall out of 1,904 finishers and was 18th in his age group with respective times of 37.36, 2:48:36 and 1:47:36 for the three disciplines, finishing with an overall time of 5:25:43.

Sally McCoy was the fourth Lostocker triathlete racing at the weekend, finishing second in her age group and 15th woman overall at the Day in the Lakes Triathlon in combined time of 3:04:38.

Back on the hills and fells, Lostock enjoyed age-group success at the annual Hendersons End fell race.

Albert Sunter was the first Lostocker home in a time of 1:04:43 to finish third in his age group, closely followed by Mark Liptrot in 1:06:51.

Josie Greenhalgh was first in her age group in a time of 1:10:25, Michele Sunter was second in her age group in 1:26:25 and Jocelyn Chadderton turned in another strong time of 1:29:20 over a difficult course.

Lostock also had a strong presence at the Knowl Hill fell race at Norden near Rochdale and also at the Great North Swim at Lake Windermere where Alan Mather completed the two-mile race in a time of 1:21:00.
