HORWICH lead the North West group in the Bolton League T20 competition with four wins out of four and 45 points.

Lostock are second with 25, and can still overtake them, but equally can be caught by either Adlington or Blackrod, who have 13 apiece with two games still to play for all teams.

Last Friday Brett Pelser scored 77 and Dean Morris 30 in Horwich’s 176-6.

Connor Hicklin helped Lostock to 59-1, but the innings ended on 134-9.

Kamran Hussain scored 30 and Andy Leyland 33 in Adlington’s 119-6, but, inspired by Tush De Zoysa’s 89, Blackrod won with just under two overs remaining.

Bradshaw head the North group with 46 points from four games, followed by Eagley with 24, Heaton 15 and Astley Bridge 13.

Again any of the second, third and fourth-placed teams are in a position to qualify for the quarter-finals as one of the three runners-up.

There were no matches in this group last Friday.

In the South group, Farnworth Social Circle and Farnworth have 32 and 24 points, respectively, from three games each.

Tonge have 22 from four and Darcy Lever just one from four.

The position in this group will become clearer after Sunday when Social Circle entertain both Farnworth and Tonge.

Last Friday, Tonge overtook Darcy Lever’s 78 in just over eight overs thanks to 37 from Tilaksha Malshan.

Westhoughton are guaranteed first place in the West Group with 56 points from five matches.

Little Hulton are currently second with 24 from five, but can be caught by Daisy Hill, who have 15 and Golborne (12) as both have only played four matches each.

On Friday, Little Hulton dismissed Golborne for 70 with Tajamul Khan taking 3-18 and went on to win by eight wickets.

Westhoughton recorded 202-6 thanks mainly to Matthew Morris (55), Mikey King (46) and Sean Dunning (45).

Baber Hussain took 3-26 and then hit 35 for Daisy Hill who ended the match on 176-5 with Steve Hodgkinson contributing 53 and Steve Chilton 44.

On Tuesday, Mohammad Waqas hit 43 of Little Hulton’s 118-9 with King taking 3-25 and Westhoughton went on to win by seven wickets.

Atherton are almost certain of finishing top of the remaining group, with 47 points from five matches.

Either Little Lever with 26 from five or Kearsley with 25 from four are likely to finish runners-up.

On Friday, Atherton recovered from 31-5 to 130-7 thanks mainly to Jack Welsh’s 39.

Curtis Anderton held the Little Lever innings together with 36, but they finished 23 runs adrift, with Rizwan Hussain taking 3-16.

Kearsley smashed 243-2 with Imran Khalid 126 and Chris Baxendale 66 in a 115-run partnership.

Akbar Ur Rehman added 49 and Nick Stobart 34 out of Walkden’s 138-9, and there were three wickets for Cameron Murray and Andrew Lord.

Tuesday evening saw a half century for Rizwan Hussain and 37 for Mohammad Baig in Atherton’s 137-5.

Cameron Murray (45) and Ryan Chaisty (36) lead Kearsley to a two-wicket victory in the last over, after Hussain provided a late scare by taking three wickets for two runs.
