BEN Amos has been given a surprise ticket to the training camp in Scotland – with Phil Parkinson hinting he could yet force his way into the reckoning at Wanderers.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper has not played for Bolton in nearly two years and spent last season on loan at Charlton Athletic.

He returned for pre-season not knowing if he would be working with the senior players, or farmed out to with the development squad and Under-18s.

But Parkinson has been impressed by the 28-year-old in the last few days and will be taking him up to Scotland for the friendly against St Mirren on Saturday.

The Wanderers boss says there has been interest in Amos – with Millwall thought to be at the front of the queue – but that his long-expected exit is not guaranteed.

“Ben’s with the first team now and we’ll see what happens, whether a club comes in for him,” he told The Bolton News. “You can see he had a good year with Charlton. “He came back and worked very hard with Lee (Butler) and the other keepers so you really don’t know what might happen.

“There have been one or two enquiries but I think his confidence has been helped enormously.”
