WANDERERS’ pre-season friendly at St Mirren on Saturday (July 7) will now kick-off at 12.30pm to allow fans to watch any potential England World Cup quarter-final.

Should Gareth Southgate’s side beat Colombia tomorrow night, their last eight game against either Sweden or Switzerland would have clashed with the friendly, which was originally scheduled to start at 3pm.

England’s route was established when they finished second in the group following defeat to Belgium last Thursday (June 28). The decision to reschedule kick-off for Wanderers’ friendly was announced this afternoon, and has also left some fans who were planning to travel to the game with travel difficulties.

A statement from St Mirren said: “Bolton had requested the kick-off time change on behalf of their travelling support and after much thought we have decided to oblige.

“Original tickets for this match will be valid while those who have already purchased a ticket but are now unable to make the match can receive a full refund from the St Mirren Ticket Office.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this decision may cause.”

Wanderers insist they made the request because they had received requests from supporters who wanted to watch the game.

Prices for the match are £12 for adults and £6 for concessions.
