Novak Djokovic was back on top of the tennis world after his Wimbledon triumph on Sunday.

After a couple of tough years, he has rounded a difficult corner in his career and appears to be back to his best.

Here is a look at the final day of the championships.

Post of the day

All-time great Rod Laver salutes champion Djokovic, who has put injury and a dip in confidence behind him to re-emerge as the force of old.

Shot of the day

Only because it was the serve that confirmed Djokovic as a grand slam winner again. In truth, the men’s final rather lacked the high drama of matches earlier in the tournament and stunning shots were in rather short supply.

It has to be the men’s final, simply because of the size of the occasion. Wimbledon got a champion who richly deserved that title, and the sport will benefit from having Djokovic back in prime form.

A good day for…

This little chap, Stefan Djokovic, loved seeing Dad lift the trophy. A day to treasure for the family.

A bad day for…

Kevin Anderson took defeat graciously, knowing the right result had been reached. He might not reach another Wimbledon final, so in one sense it was a bad day, but he has also joined the ranks of the select few who have got through to one, so was justifiably proud.

“I was visualising, imagining this moment of him coming to the stands, cherishing this moment with my wife and me and everyone. He was not there until the very moment when I was walking to get an interview. That was just a moment that I will carry inside of my heart forever.” – Djokovic was thrilled to see his three-year-old son on Centre Court as he held the trophy.

Stat of the day

Djokovic won exactly 100 points on Sunday in achieving his success – a fourth Wimbledon title.
