SIX Radcliffe AC runners took on the second highest peak in the Yorkshire Dales last Saturday when they ran the 6.8-mile Ingleborough Fell Race.

Chris Whittaker was first home for the club in 40th position out of 209 finishers covering the course with 1,968 feet of climbing in 1hr 0mins 25secs.

They were battling for points in the season-long Run The Moors Grand Prix which involves several local fell running clubs and coming in second for Radcliffe was Craig Norman in 72nd place in 1:06:10.

Andy Haines ran 1:07:35, Chris Paxton 1:07:49secs, Paul Swyers 1:11:41 and Lisa Carter, the only woman from the club running, clocked 1:27:41, putting her fourth vet-45.

The event was part of the Ingleton Gala and started from the local community centre sports field.

Rob Lister ran the second in the aptly named Sale Sizzler 5k series, clocking 20:51 and Mark Garner faced the evening heat last Thursday when he ran the Media City 10k in Salford, finishing in 45:36.

Congratulations are in order for four members who have qualified as run leaders – Sarah Oxley, Sarah Rushton, Wayne Holden and Debi Warrington.
