WANDERERS crashed to their seventh away defeat of the season after a frustrating display at Goodison Park.

Gary Megson's side survived a one-sided first half without having Jussi Jaaskelainen seriously tested, but the Mersey men stepped up a gear in the second period to consign Bolton to another miserable day away from the Reebok.

Phil Neville scored a fortuitous first goal of the season, his cross evading both Tim Cahill and the on-rushing Jaaskelainen before bouncing into the net.

Cahill was then served-up his sixth goal in nine games by Joleon Lescott as the Wanderers defence were caught standing by an advantage played by referee Rob Styles.

we need the transfer window so bad, bringing off campo and guthrie and bringing on j llyod samuel and mccann is not going to have any impact what so ever. where's the youth coming through? bring on january. i hate everton, they think they are so good but the fact is we made them look so good. rubbish

I totally agree with ad_bwfc. What does Stelios have to do to get his feet onto the pitch?? We are losing and need a goal and he brings on a defensive midfielder and 2 defenders.

We have 4 matches in quick succession and Megson is not shuffling the pack at all, to give some players a rest and not giving other players a chance at making an impression. What is the point of having a squad if you are not willing to use it??

It was the squad players who are currently being ignored for the Premiership games that won us the game against Red Star Belgrade!! Three weeks later and hardly any of them haven't had a sniff at the bench never mind a game.

Although we were bad today, the referee Rob Styles was worse. I'm not saying its all his fault we lost but he had a shocker of a game being totally biased towards everton all game.

For Evertons first goal, Diouf was fouled in the build up to the goal. Styles gave so many petty decisions against us. For Evertons second goal, Styles appeared to have stopped the game for an Everton free kick and our players stopped too, then decides to let the game carry on as when all our players had stopped, Lescott got into the box and Everton scored from it.

Our fans were good today, the players weren't. We had absolutely nothing going forward and defensively looked okay for much of the game but we need to be consistently good all of the game and stop making individual errors. Jaaskelainen made a shocking error in Evertons first goal.

As for Goodison Park, I was sat under a stand with pillars in front of me and if the ball was kicked high i couldn't see it. Shocking ground with horrible wooden seats that give hardly any leg room.

Today, we started brightly, having lots of possession of the ball but still creating little. For the first 20mins Everton hardly had the ball. After that, we did nothing. They could have scored more than they did and missed chances.

I don't understand the substitutions we made today. We haven't had a striker on the bench for too many games and have no second plan if we go behind in games. Ivan Campo has looked poor now in many recent games and i would take him out of the starting line up for a while to get his fitness up. Gavin McCann would do better in his role at the moment.

Our team relies too much on Diouf and Anelka. Neither of them played well today and when they are in the team and don't play well, we generally lose. We need to bring in a striker and some defenders in the transfer window. Kevin Davies had a really poor game today also.

We were poor today but however, since Megson has come in, he has done a very good job. I hope he gets some money to bring in a few players who will improve the team. Our home form is good, but the away form is awful this season. I think we will get a win at Sunderland, though it will be a scrappy game, we have more quality than them and will win.

Poor day today overall but i'm sure we will improve at Sunderland and we will beat Derby at home on the 2nd January.

Hes done a good job at home yeah!!! But away we are a shambles i just see us getting beat everytime we are away because each manager we have wants to play 4-5-1 WHY????????????????

bwfc_1210, egerton says...
7:17pm Wed 26 Dec 07

Sammy Lee tried to play the 4-4-2 and it didnt work for us. I think the 4-5-1 is our best formation, its just the team choice that affects our performance. I think Nolan and Guthrie are both playing well together. Campo is in awful form, while Davies seemed like a stranger today. We didn't have a good player really today that was our problem. We just seemed to have no creativity at all going forward and resorted to long ball everytime in the second half. At Man City two weeks ago, we looked good attacking them, today we seemed to have nothing at all going forward and hardly had a shot all game. I don't think Davies should be playing on the wing though, he is only good for one thing and that is winning balls in the air. He doesnt have the quality to play on the wing.

Also, the article is wrong. We haven't lost 9 games away from home, we have lost 7.

I think the biggest problem is the bench. You need 4 outfield players capable of coming on and changing it, well at least 3 of them plus a good defender. Stelios is our only forward option and we definitely need Andranik + a striker on there.

Just got back from our local Brit Club and must admit tactically we got it wrong!!! Defending away from home is just asking for trouble. The Ref didn't help matters with biased decision making and all too quick giving us(Bolton) card's and then just talking to the Everton players when they had made simular tackles. Without going on to much i just feel like we didn't deserve to win with that performance and after some good performances thought we could at least show our worth against an inform team like Everton, but maybe this is what we have to expect this time of the year?? I thought we just looked hungover maybe to much turkey!!! Let's hope our next two games bring us maximum points as we should be looking to march on and get down to business and finish this second half to the season with a flurry. Keeping the faith!!!

A DRUG addict threatened to kill his father after he tried to stop him going upstairs when he returned home drunk early on Christmas morning.

depressing yes - but did anyone actually think we'd get anything at goodison anyway???... i was hoping for a draw but realistically it had defeat written all over it this game..
We beat wigan, we beat brum, we need to beat sunderland and derby next and then pray we sign 3 or 4 quality players in january.. i dont think we will... pg wont commit himself while we are hovering on the edge of relegation.. but on the other hand, if he doesnt commit then we are going to be lucky to escape!!!! trouble is, he also wont commit when we are pushing for a top 4/5 finish either... a no win situation really.... we need a billionaire investor.... bolton born preferably!!!!!

WE need to play to the whistle and not just stop when we THINK a foul etc has been committed! Remember the Villa match, this just smacks of a lack of concentration.
Yesterday was always going to be a defensive backs to the wall display where everybody (incl Nico) needed to defend from the front and concentrate for 100% of the time.
Like earlier matches we didn't and paid the price, this is a basic football requirement nothing that needs Cryuff like skill!
We can't blame the ref for our poor performance.
Whilst we did well against wigan/brum lets not be deluded that the overall perf was good as both have very poor defensive records (Titus Bramble...need I say more!!)
We have had some good results without playing particularly good football.
