FULL TIME: Wanderers 1 Blackburn Rovers 2

JASON Roberts struck in the last minute to hand Blackburn the derby spoils at the Reebok Stadium.

The former Wigan striker, on as a substitute, raced through on Roque Santa Cruz's flick and through three Wanderers defenders before poking a shot which deflected off Joey O'Brien and past Jussi Jaaskelainen.

It completed a second-half comeback for Rovers, who had equalised Kevin Nolan's excellent volley with a header from Chris Samba.

Nolan's volley just before the break - his fourth goal of the season - stood out as a rare moment to get the pulses racing.

Perfectly measuring Joey O'Brien's deep cross, he smashed the ball right-footed past Brad Friedel to leave the American keeper motionless.

Had Tamir Cohen put more on his shot from eight yards out immediately after the break, then Wanderers might well have been celebrating a fifth successive league win at the Reebok.

But shortly after Jussi Jaaskelainen had kept his side in front with an excellent reaction save from Roque Santa Cruz, big Frenchman Samba headed home from David Bentley's corner.

It was then left to Roberts to steal the show, scoring just over 10 minutes after arriving as a substitute.

He raced past three challenges before getting the luck his persistence deserved with the winning goal.

Wanderers: Jaaskelainen; Nolan; Stelios; Campo (McCann 56); Gardner; Davies; Guthrie; Joey O'Brien; Cohen (Wilhelmsson 62); Michalik; Andy O'Brien. Subs not used: Al Habsi; Hunt; Fojut.

Blackburn: Friedel; Ooijer (Khizanishvili 72); Warnock; Samba; Nelsen; Santa Cruz (Derbyshire 90); McCarthy (Roberts 77); Bentley; Gamst Pedersen; Reid; Dunn. Subs not used: Brown; Berner.

Why try to defend a 1 0 lead. We just invited pressure and gave them more confidence by the minute. Our defense is woeful at best, we should have taken the game to them. They were there for the takin, instead we sat back. Crap management, crap board. Unless we bring in some seriously good defenders and a striker (davies looked out of his depth) we will be in more trouble than we are now.

A win is a win - is a win! Bolton are not slouches at the Reebok (5 last games won there)so dogged perseverance was the order of the day - and it paid off. I'm pleased for Jason, he should likely play more!
Now the matter of Sparky and Newcastle has to be resolved.
Always providing that Sparky is really supported by BRFC, I feel he would be committing professional suicide if he seriously considers taking over at Newcastle. One can appreciate that he is ambitious, but a long and successful Managership of BRFC will enhance his reputation much more than the predictable failure which would inevitably follow a move to Newcastle. Sparky should see the sense of staying at BRFC - until the Manchester United job becomes available.
Then, and ONLY then should he be forced to decide if he will move.
Personally, I feel he should STILL stay at BRFC - with suitable remuneration of course!
Well done lads, the win today was a great confidence builder - and well deserved.

I cannot fault a single player for effort. It`s a shame we couldn`t scrape a 1-1 draw. Unfortunately, we are a poor quality side and that is purely down to a patehetic lack of investment on players.
Graham Souness stated on Sky before the game that `Blackburn would win because on paper they have the better players`.Gartside and our benefactor should be ashamed of themselves. After 7 years in the premiership the Wanderers have begged, stole and borrowed players and relied on the `Allardyce`factor to over achieve.Every season we are the premiership paupers and our benefactor, who guaranteed the initial debt has been hell bent on reducing the debt at the expense of the team.I have a feeling the loyal supporters will still be here next season while Gartside and our benefactor will have disappeared into the sunset with our team playing Championship football.

At one point in the second half I thought the midfield were having a competition to see who could give the ball away most. Even if we get a decent striker who the hell is going to create chances for him? How Cohen could be thrown into a Premiership game ahead of Andranik (and others)is beyond belief.
And sorry Jussi but I also think it's now time that Al Habsi got his chance in the league.
Yes I know I'm a moaning sod. And no-one who will listen - least of all the manager.

Well if we didn't know beforehand we certainly know how desperately the team needs strengthening unfortunately in all parts of the team. I have to disagree with comments about the Campo substitution - he was having no impact on the game and it was right to bring on McCann who has been better in recent games than Campo. Wilhelmsson was also the right substitution as an attacking player but he clearly isn't good enough. Defensively we are poor and Michalik isn't up to the job either, the full backs are at best average and that includes J O'Brien. Midfield is inept with absolutely no guile with the honourable exception of Guthrie. Up front we require two strikers really. Steinsson if he signs will be a start if he's able to play across the back four but we need strengthening throughout the squad. Blackburn deserved the win on their second half performance. Its pointless asking for Megson's head at this point in the season. Nothing will be achieved by having three managers in one season! The main objective is survival and then to review the situation at the end of the season. Realistically we need a big clear out in the summer. This window will be key to our survival and whether Megson is able to attract players of quality to the club. There are very few players that I would be happy to build a team around other than Diouf and Guthrie... yes its grim.

6:30pm Sun 13 Jan 08

After 7 consecutive years in the prem our squad is an utter disgrace, the 2nd worst in the league .I fear that no matter what we now might spend there will not be the immediate impact we desperately need. As for today's disaster, Megson has not yet realised that we cannot defend. It was predictable that sooner or later the back 4 and a nervous goalkeeper would be as bad at the Reebok as they have been away from home.

At least the bank manager is happy!! (so far)

£12m in the bank (+£3m depends on apperances)sounds really great, Gartside will have a great bonus at year end, Gartside should be warned (if still at the club) that we stand to lose over £55m if relegated and after watching a side who look out of their depth in this league, now that the jewel in the crown has left, we badly need a leader going off todays performance, in fact on and off the field of play, leaders are required, we all have to accept as fans we are in a dogfight for the rest of this season which we can do nothing about, but the fat cat Gartside who has brought all this on himself will have to look for solutions and fast, I very much doubt that one or two players will turn things round this season, more like a new chairman and a football thinking manager.

How on earth can you play one striker up front on his own and NOT have a striker on the bench AT HOME.

KEEP THE FAITH (miracles will also help)

Absolutely spot on. Just look at the forwards Blackburn have accumulated, Santa Cruz, McCarthy, Roberts and Bentley. These have cost money and Blackburn are an example of a club who want to compete in the premiership. We had Davies who always gives 100% (he came on a free transfer.)
Gartside and Mr Ed should should walk away with their millions now an stop the pretence that they are actually putting something into the club. By the way where is Jon.

I dont think I have ever witnessed a worse football match than the one I have ever seen up at the Reebok today.

A conference game has more skill on show than the sorry excuse for a football match witnessed up at Middlebrook today.

Bolton were dire, the back 4 suicidal once again.

The kids I manage on a Saturday morning keep a better shape than this current crop of journeymen, loaners and championship rejects.

Nolan, Campo and Davies and Guthrie worked their bo**ocks off covering for the mediocre rest.

Gartside and his sock puppet Megson will destroy our club. Shame on them.

This seasons signings are practicaly all third rate journeymen, rejected or failures at other clubs. We are preparing for life in the Championship and lower divisions.

The last 7 or 8 years hard work will all be for nothing if we keep this useless arrogant manager.

I feel thoroughly deflated and angry that we are at this stage, after all the hard work of the past decade.

Go chasing a last minute winner with ten men when the opposition has been on top for the second half and you often end up with nothing.

We can't even blame the ref as all the decisions went our way.

The more I see of Guthrie the less impressed I become. Gives it away and cannot deliver a set piece. Mind you Willhelmsson was as bad.

Lets be honest the Wigan, Brum & Derby performance were not good but we got the result, today we had a similar (prob worse) perf than those three matches. Problem is Blackburn were better than us (God, that hurt saying that!!)and deserved the points especially in the second half, they had more idea & guile and it was only a matter of time before they scored.
I just hope darkside put in the Anelka deal that he can't play against us. I can see him scoring and sending us down, remember 1998!!

How negative can a manager be 4-5-1 is such a negative approach to a game. It automatically gives the opposing team the impression we are scared in the modern game any professional team at home should play 4-4-2. Why take Campo off??? Why not have a decent replacement for Anelka already in line?? Has common sense really gone out of this club or are we just interested in lining the boards pockets!!!!! Gutted

Lets put a few things in perspective here...

Our summer spending bonanza consisted of begging, stealing and borrowing second rate players who could not buy a game at any other club in the premiership, they are at best Championship quality, and I mean at best. We have sold one of the best forwards in the world and have not made any attempt to buy anyone to replace him. We are playing at home with one forward in the squad, who himself is not a real out and out striker. The manager is clueless, he takes off our linchpin (Campo) who is taking every throw, free kick and is at the heart of every bit of play... and replaces him with Gavin McCann!?!?! There is no atmosphere in the ground, fans are pig sick of paying top rate prices for a bargain basement club. The pies are overpriced, so is the ale, you get pestered from the minute you get on the concourse for everything from a program to a credit card, you can't even stand up and shout at the side without a jumped up mini Hitler of a steward telling you to sit down. It is a thoroughly depressing and expensive hobby supporting the whites at the minute and I cannot see any light at the end of the tunnel.

We wonder why Big Sam left - he was sick of being the rag and bone man of Premiership football scraping along on a shoestring with second rate freebies and the odd veteran.

Myself, I am sick of it, cannot be bothered anymore. I would rather be in the Championship being entertained than watching this shower we have at the minute.

The 20% sale went well then, it even spread to our team on the field of play, gave that many passes away I thought it was the 90% sale, no wonder we cannot play the ball out of the defence, there is no one in midfield or up front to receive it, not to mention the free kick Blackburn had in the first half when every Bolton player was in the penalty box, heard also at the match that Cid had left, even though he had three and a half years left on his contract, who sanctioned that contract then? and who sancioned the appointment of Megson who has never heard of playing two up front, as a supporter I believe I have a right to watch some football at least, even if it is only for 5 minutes during the 90 mins of the match.

Never seen as much rubbish in my life, this match must go down in history as one of the worst performances seen at the Reebok/Burnden Park which was witnessed by 18,315, doubt very much they will be thinking of renewing their season tkts for next season.

Keep the faith (please)

GARTSIDE as no idea, he is a business man not a football man, he should be LISTENING to the fans, the attendances dropping game on game would tell me that something was wrong, just take these posts on here, we all cant be wrong MR GARTSIDE, you open up the papers, and this team is linked with this player, and that team is looking at this one, who are we looking at???????, we are two weeks into the transfer window, and i beleive we are short of at least 2 defenders, 2 midfielders, 2 strikers, thats six players, yet if you take away all the as beens in our squad we will be looking at a total of 12 to 15 players at least, i cant see one player wanting to come to our club at the moment, the position we are in the league, recent performances will certainly not be attractive to a prospective player, but what concerns me is Megson as no character or no idea on selection, tactics or subs, today was dreadful, why take of campo, cohen was lucky to even be on the pitch after 3mins, i have seen players sent of for less than that, he was slow clumsy and couldnt pass, but megson takes of Campo, and i agree with a previous post, when he left the pitch we lost shape, and once Blackburn got back to one - one it was only a matter of time before they took the lead, and my only surprise was it took 36 mins before they did, there are so many players who are out there who 1) are not good enough & 2) dont care, only good point of the game was Nolans goal what a cracker - goal of the season

The first goal really came off a corner that should never had been one, The second goal Nolan had the right idea but failed to bring |Roberts down had Campo been on you could bank on it but then a second yellow for him and that's that!!!! Could I ask Megson- WHAT DO YOU SAY IN HALF TIME TEAM TALKS? We play really well first half, brilliant goal from Nolan, fair play. As with many other matches we come out and look half asleep, scared stiff to push on for a second goal.

Megson, youre tacticts are hopeless, shown up again by a Manager who knows how to pick subs, and when to play them.

That numpty Swedish winger should never be played again, until we are either winning or losing 3-0. In a tight match, he is a liability.

Jussi- what is going on? As big as a house, but useless at high crosses. They nearly scored twice from corners in first half. Time for a rest please.

Basically we were found out today after a series of flattering homes results (since the man u win). First half we were OK, except Nolan , who is simply no midfielder... he is best in and around the box (as he showed again today with his wonderful goal and feeble attempt to stop the break that led to the winner at the death) Second half we lost our shape totally when Cohen went off - he looked good to me but Wilhelmson is simply poor.. get rid asap. The shift to 4-4-2 for the last 30 mins was a disaster despite McCann's efforts - i don't like him but he did well for me.. Without reinforcements pronto those relagation odds will be shortening!!!!

Just got back from the Reebok. Megson is clueless and is merely a championship manager taking us to his comfort zone, the championship. I thought each player gave their best but it was just not good enough. Stelios was 3 stone too light and 3 foot short to deal with the pushing and shoving handed out by rovers defence. I am totally deflated and sick of thinking about Bolton Wanderers this season when in truth, nothing you say will make any difference to a club with poor management and no ambition. I think I may take the rest of the season off and not give a monkeys.

First half. Five man midfield with Nolan playing an attacking role. Excellent goal and some cover for the back four in midfield.

Second half. Bad mistake by jussi, he was in no-mans land for their first goal. Result. Campo off, McCann on with Stelios up front and four four two. Sorry Kevin Nolan, but despite your attacking qualities you are not a central midfield player. Also as captain on the field you should have taken control and pushed players up the field instead of trying to defend deep against a team with most of their quality in attack. We allowed them to take complete control of the game in the midfield and that has happened many times in the past under Allardyce. Message to Megson !! BSA had his faults, don't copy them.

The above was not the only problem. We played a side with some quality players today. It was blatantly obvious that our signings of the last 12 months have ( with the exception of Guthrie) not been premiership quality. Don't blame Michelik and A O'Brien for today. It was not their fault. Up against Santa Cruz and McCarthy our defenders did not do too much wrong.

As soon as Jussi made that mistake and we went 4 4 2, we invited them forward without the quality to protect our defence. I agree that we need a goal scorer, but the problems with BWFC go deeper. We were never going to push on for a top four place 12 months ago. We were merely going to strengthen a team that was suffering. A team that suffered the loss of a string of top quality players at the end of their careers that came to BWFC and flattered an average side. BSA knew this and knew that the supply had dried up.

At least 20 million needed throughout the team.

More of a performance than last weeks inept display against Sheffield United. A shame though that today's performance was only marginally better. I thought Cohen played well but has still to get used to the pace of the Premiership. Wilhelmsson was clueless, running round like a headless chicken. Guthrie outstanding again, but lacked support when it mattered. I think the relegation battle will go right to the wire but think that we may surive the dreaded drop. Robert was a good impact player for Blackburn today. Unfortunately the Wanderers didn't have the luxury of someone similar. Lets hope some of the Anelka millions can be spent on quality players this week and not knee jerk panic buys.

He is upfront on his own with two c halfs kicking lumps out of him, with no ref protection and no players quick enough to support him. This tactic is doomed to failure.
Problem is with the players we have I can't see any other alternative, sad really!
We have come so far from the dark days and if someone doesn't switch the light on quick we will be back there as quick as PG can say 15million pounds meets my bonus target.
I have scoured the net and can't find anybody who we realistically look like getting (forget Saviola, Defoe, Ashton, Elander etc they will not come to Bolton - its too cold)

8:18pm Sun 13 Jan 08

I know it has been said many times before, but Andranik really deserves a chance. He is just the type of leggy, energetic, hard running player who would have pushed forward in the second half.

Megson prefers his own £37500 signing rather than a proven Prem League scorer.

Nolan- 10/10 for the goal, 1/10 for drive and leadership. Please put him back on the wing where he does look better. Guthrie who is our best midfielder is wasted out there.

Megson- seen enough now. All his track record shows he is not up to it. Off you go, take that Knox bloke with you. We may still save ourselves if changes made now. I dont believe all this " stick with him " stuff. Get rid now, if he stays we are going down.

A few thoughts. Campo had to come off, he was really poor (again). Nolan was worse, but we knew as soon as he scored his goal he wasnt going to get subbed. He spent the 2nd half like an over excited schoolboy running around like a headless chicken, with no composure, no ability to pass more than 5 yards and a complete inability to make the most basic tackles. Seriously, he must have been the only player on the pitch who didnt win a tackle today, Gardner must have won 20. Joey O'Brien is never a top 2 divisions player in a million years and never a fullback in any professional division, what a joke selection that is becoming by Megson whilst our proper fullback sits on the bench. Centre backs did well, no complaints. Roberts scores against us every time we play him, he is twice the player Davies will ever be, and Megson should be trying to get him, he managed him long enough at WBA. I hope all the doom merchants on here will remember how bad Sam was at trying to get a result v Rovers at Reebok, I dont recall him ever getting the better of them. Also, it was poor today but no worse than many games that Sam made us endure in his last season - remember City, Boro, Blackburn, Wigan, Charlton etc etc. Yet 1 home defeat for Megson makes everyone call him a Championship manager, I would rather give him a bit of time to prove himself. We might have won today despite having no Anelka, Diouff and Meite - but Jussi had a crap 2nd half, Nolan had a terrible one even by his low standards, and it has to be said Guthrie had his quietest game yet. We should have got a draw, but I'm living in hope that that will be our weakest line up of the season and points can be won in the next few games with a couple of new signings.

Asked by a pundit whether we'd be bringing in a striker to replace Anelka, Megson wheeled out his latest soundbite about how Davies can score goals (I presume he means Eddie, as Kevin doesn't), and there are goals in the rest of the team. Subtext being forget it. So When Megson yaps/whispers about how he loves Ronaldo/Van Nistelroy/Elamander/
Elano/Rooney don't think for one minute we're putting bids in. It'd be more informative to know whether he prefers peas or carrots with his pork chop.

Today was one of the bleakest performances (if you can call it a performance) i've ever seen of Bolton. That is, Nolan Zidane goal aside.

Cohen? Cohen? If that is what to expect of a Megson signing, then don't give him 15p, let alone 15 million. I don't give a monkeys that 3 successive managers (hand on heart, was LSL a manager or a wreckers ball?) have over looked Teymourian, 25K fans and falling fast, saw what he brought to the team - pace, passing, goals - yet we play some monkey that brings leaden feet, and the ability the hack an opposition player down. In fact there you have Megson distilled; he'd rather play a hacker of legs than a passer of the ball.

And Julie is spot on about us coming out 2nd half in a coma, because the players must be given heroin instead of a pep talk.

Good job you're not involved with the club if that's your contribution.
On the subject of Campo's substitution, I wasnt greatly impressed with his reaction, OK we could have taken Cohen off instead, but he was bringing a central midfielder on, replacing like with like, and Campo wasnt exactly lighting the game up. Nolan celebrated his wonder goal right in front of where I was sat and when I looked up Campo was sauntering back to the halfway line looking as if we had conceded a goal. Not the greatest for team spirit, I get the impression Nolan is not Campo's favourite person, this wasnt the first example of that.

Nolan's goal was pure class , he also had a decent game , what did let us down was the shambolic defending. Where was the marking for the Header? , Samba left all alone , Jussi made a right mess of the cross as well. Similair goal to the one by Everton earlier this season. The lack of investment has shown big time this season. We need to spend 20 million at least on new players. The centre backs were not great last season , this season we replaced them with even worse players! What can we expect. At least the biggest donkey of them all, CID has gone. What a waste of space he was. As for front men , we did nowt , no surprise there with 1 up in Davies. OUR BOARD ARE ABSOLUTE DROSS. It looks an uphill fight from here. Personally I thought Nolan, Cohen and Andy O'B played quite well throughout and Davies was much better restored to centre forward. Even McCann did OK and Guthrie showed promise as usual. That's it for me.
Jussi, yet again gifted a goal. I wonder if he watched Friedl who caught the aerial crosses and threw the ball short several times. I agree with Julie and one or two others: Al Habsi and Andranik must play!Wilhelmson must never play,
certainly not in front of Ricky, not that he was much.

Had to suffer Megson on 606 on the way back saying' we threw it long too many times and need to play short. Doh! Who sets and who changes the tactics?

Must say that those saying today's game was the worst ever mustn't have come to the cup match against Sheffield United, but I admit our performance today was pretty dismal. Megson only knows one strategy- defend at home and away. Only problem is we can't defend. Following his instructions means we play too deep and encourage the opposition to come on to us all the time. Sadly we have to admit the majority of our players are not good enough for the Prem and neither is our manager. He has inherited a poor squad of players and is unable to get the best out of what he has got. What does he say to them? He certainly is no motivator. What worries me is even given money, does he know how to spend it correctly?
Who he will bring in? Sorry I am losing what little confidence I had in him and our hopes of survival. I think I will email Super John in America and ask him to send a rallying message to the team. Better still, let's get Moose,Brownie and Coyle to tell them a little about what it means to wear the Bolton shirt with pride. They may also be able to give Megson a few tips at the same time on how to be a manager.

Bolton Wanderers have agreed a deal for AZ Alkmaar's Gretar Steinsson, skysports.com understands.

The Icelandic international was left out of AZ's clash at Ajax on Sunday - which ended in a 6-1 demolition for Alkmaar - as he prepared to travel to England.

AZ boss Louis van Gaal explained why he left out Steinsson.

"Steinsson expects a transfer. Both clubs are in negotiations and there is a big chance there will be an agreement. Therefore I have placed Steinsson on the bench.

"I only want to work with players who are fully concentrated on AZ. That is with Gretar currently not an issue. He will probably leave the club."

Bolton buy

The right-back, who can cover anywhere across the back four, is now set to become Bolton's first signing since the departure of Nicolas Anelka.

Bolton have £15million from the Anelka deal and are ready to use it to bolster their squad in all areas.

Steinsson only signed a new long-term contract at AZ last summer, which at the time was to fend off interest from Middlesbrough.

Now after seeing a move to Teesside fail to materialise, Bolton look to have agreed terms with AZ and the 26-year-old could sign within the next 48 hours.

Bolton legend Gudni Bergsson - who still has close contacts with the club, is believed to have recommended the deal to both the player and his former employers

It's time for the fans to loudly call for Gartside's resignation before we get relegated. "GARTSIDE OUT" should be chanted at all the next games until he's gone!
Gartside has NEVER listened to the fans EVER.

NEVER will.

Stop going to matches.

When the best players have all gone and the gate receipts are down to £20 they might start to hear what the fans are saying.

I have never before seen such negativity from a bunch of people, and that includes Wolves fans, who're quite the boring type.

I do feel Andranik should be given a go, but we've got to look at the rest of what we've got. Ad, Dzemaili has played 1 game for us in the first team, he like cohen needs to be introduced sparsely especially considering he has had no football in 10 months. You can't just pick up the pace of this league, but I do think he should be there or there abouts, ie. bench for now. Our defence is a big problem and something we need to sort out. This Steinsson guy is just what we need at right back and now we need a commanding centre half with pace. After that we need to find someone who can play the campo role, same role, but someone with legs. Ivan is struggling now with the pace of the game and he never had a lot to begin with. We then need a pacey forward for upfront to interchange with Davo and to chase his flick ons, kinda like Stelios, but again, someone with pace. Stelios is such a good player but his lack of legs are why, like campo, speed etc, his days have to be numbered as a 90 minute guy. Give him 20-25 minutes every week & i'll be happy. I'd like to know where Vaz Te is in that sense, or even Sinclair, both are fast and if they could get some composure could be great for us.

Whatever we do though, get behind them at all times. Don't be a morgue. The fans play such an important role and the negativity shown by so many bolton fans plays into the hands of the opposition. Bugger the fireworks, the dancing, the flags, lets make the reebok a real fortress.

The simple truth is that ONLY our very first eleven, largely the ones that Sam picked, are competent enough to cope in the prem, and age has caught up with one or two of these as well.

The rest, including Michalik, Joey and all the summer signings bar AOB and Guthrie, have been found wanting, precious cash thrown away on sub-standard players. We all know Vaz Te isn't up to it and Helgusson is a pale substitute for Davies.

Playing one up front is catastrophic if the midfielders don't have the pace to join the front man holding up the ball.

Real quality replacements are needed but will be hard to tempt. They should have been lined up/signed up BEFORE Nic was allowed to leave.

It's so ironic that the player most criticised by fans has probably been our best player this year:-Hunt has to play, as has Andranik, but Megson seems unable to see his ability.

Sam could get the best out them, ugly or not. Megson cannot. Tactics are horribly negative, even at home. Choice of substitutes incomprehensible.

Players with pace and energy must be recruited in the next two weeks, but whatever happens, I'll still be in Madrid! Support your team through thick and thin, just as you would your partner in life!

I seriously fear relegation after yesterday's show. We've got to score goals, but we just don't look like we can. Davies never gets more than half a dozen a season, Stelios is a headless chicken, Wilhelmson too lightweight, Nolan (fabulous goal yesterday I grant you) too slow. It's not rocket science to see that if we go behind in any game it is unlikely we'll salvage anything. Most fans knew Anelka was going to go, but why not have a replacement lined up? That just looks incompetent to me.

I agree that is why I put 95pct of my effort against Gartside. Megson I don't like and never have and that shows with my posts - but for now he is our manager and part of our team. Maybe re-consider the option at the end of the season - whether we are in the Prem or Fizzy-pop.

It was funny to watch MOTD2 last night where the kept showing clips over and over again where the midfield kept shooting the ball to empty spaces , only to be picked up by Blackburn. I agree we are certainly in a relegation dogfight, but despite the disastrous second half i thought there were some signs yesterday in the first half that the team eas strating to pass the ball more effectively. We were deservedly one up. The problems came when blackburn upped it after the interval and we could not really respond. having said that we gifted them their goals (Jussi should either commit to us or clear off - his form at present is poor). Of course we need strength at the back and more cutting edge at the front...and we need to play people where they are best... nolan further forward not in central midfield (if he plays at all) , guthrie is wasted out wide, davies is a battering ram but never has even a shot on goal... we have the potential with a couple of signings up front to play a better class of football, on the ground, faster (cos speed is what all defences fear) ... i am still very dubious about megson, but still think we have it in us to stay up...

Get the bored replaced by people who have passion for the game, as well as good business sense (unlike the numpties at the moment who just seem to take out of the club and give nothing back!!!!).

That would a good starting point for the summer when the rest of the failing can be looked at and if possible sorted out - such as team management, players, stewards control, ticket prices, food/beverages pricing, atmosphere at the ground, etc.....

At this rate the present set of people on the board are not listening to the clubs fans who can see what is wrong with the club - once this takes shape, which it has done, then the club falls apart which it is doing!!!!!

Fans need to be listened to. Just look at the BIg 4 and other successful clubs where , yes, they have a higher income from commercial sales etc, but they do listen to their fans and work with the fans - something that the present Bolton Board do not do, have never done and never will - hence the complete resentment for any decision made by them towards the end of last season, this season and possible future season - if they are still in place.

Another point which the fans do not like is the complete secrecy and hypocrisy that the BOard do on a very regular occasion!!!

Anyway, since Warburton and Duckworth families have been on board we have never had any sense of aspiration and they never seem to do anything decent for the club except sit at the desk every now and again for their wages!!!!

What good do THEY ALL do???

The only way for the club to proceed to the next leverl is a complete clear out and completely rebuild the club from bottom to top and that means a new owner with the passion and money (like Mike Ashley of Newcastle) and a new board with a sense of aspiration and achievement and not afraid to take the risks to bring in decent players/managers to help take the club to the next level (which would create more revenue from the fans and, hopefully, increase the fan base with the fickle-glory-hunter fans).

By chances you mean the odd sub appearance from big sam where he's not had time to do anything or his excellent pre season form which I was hoping he'd bring into the squad this year. Sammy saw something in him and watching those games, so did I.

As for positives, there are a few. Guthrie has been excellent. Stelios has given 110% for the cause and Andy O'Brien has been good. Al-Habsi looks good and deserves a chance and in Dzemaili, Harsanyi & Obedayi, we have good future players.

11:35am Mon 14 Jan 08

Once again a serious error of judgement by Jussi led to a gifted goal for Blackburn who then won the game by a goal scored by a striker who had come on as substitute. Now there's a novel concept, having a striker on the bench !!!! We were the home team and didn't even have one of those !!!!

As Blackburn took the corner that led to their first goal, I said at the time, that we obviously didn't intend making a quick break, had we cleared it, as every one of our players was in the box. Surely that only encourages the opposition to pack the box, as they don't don't need to leave anyone back to cover a breakaway.

Nolan's goal was fantastic, one of the best we've seen for a long time, but it does not overshadow his ineffectiveness in any challenge and the one on Roberts that led to Blackburn's second goal.

I, like many other posters, am also sick of wondering why Andranik never features and why Cohen should get a run out before him, he cannot and is not (on previous showings) worse than Braaten/Wilhelmson and yet both seem to be in front of him in the pecking order, even Dzemali got a 45 min run out v Sheff Utd even though he is nowhere near match fit ?????

On a separate note.....I started watching the Wanderers when I was 10/11 years old (back in the early 60s) and followed them everywhere with my dad. We used to stand on the Lever End (the good old days) and I have always been a passionate fan, being unable to go to a match and not shout. I now sit in the North Upper and can't believe the number of kids that go and do nothing to add to the atmosphere. I still shout but get kids in front turning round to have a look. The reeboks not the noisiest place now, what's it going to be like in a few years time when these kids grow up???

Does he pull names out of a hat for the subs bench? at the moment there is no balance in the squad and we are lacking pace and craft. Its alright Gartside saying we were succesful before Anelka came but back then we always had players who could create chances. The dingles keeper didnt have a single save to make yesterday and at home that is not acceptable. I can only see bad times ahead because i don't believe the board will part with all the money from the Anelka sale, and even if they did i cant see Megson being able to pull off the kind of deals big sam could.

Bolton legend Gudni Bergsson - who still has close contacts with the club, is believed to have recommended the deal to both the player and his former employers

he showed his feeling on the T.V. and I don`t blame him. One more goal was what we needed to win this game, Blackburn were not in the frame then they scored a from a miss headed attempt. so now we are hanging in for a draw, and of course we have seen this happen many times it was a certain draw and Blackburn scored.Well we were all sick. Good luck to BRFC. they never gave up. We were awfull. We all know what is wrong??? so I will leave it at that. Nuff said.
