STALWART trio Jussi Jaaskelainen, Ricardo Gardner and Ivan Campo must wait until next week at the earliest before knowing how far Wanderers are prepared to go to keep them at the Reebok.
They are three of five members of Gary Megson's survival squad who are out of contract this summer and whose futures were put on hold during the battle against relegation.
Stelios Giannakopoulos and Andranik Teimourian's contracts also expire next month, but the Greece international is understood to be already resigned to this being his final season, while the Iranian's lack of involvement under Megson - he has played just 32 minutes of Premiership football since the new boss arrived - has led to speculation he could be surplus to requirements.
Nevertheless, even with survival almost certain, the Wanderers boss refuses to look any further than Sunday's final game at Chelsea.

gardner another 12 months as he's started to struggle but samuel and gardner are far from the worst left backs in the premier, if al habsi signs i'd rather move on without jussi i feel he has let us down the last few weeks, slightly souring the last few years, i think its best he moves on for all concerned and remember him at his best, i dont believe the injury story at all, i think he's taken bad advice from his agent in my opinion, campo is a certainty to leave because recently he's been kicking for touch line position instead of passing and his legs have gone, i think campo has been a fantastic player for us, but strangely cant tackle, pass, run or stay on his feet, normally this would make him crap, however scurrying around like a rabid rodent somehow has worked and his role in front of the back four as a spoiler/enforcer has worked well, i think being spanish has helped as it gives an air of culture to his play. this is a hard position we need to fill as we have struggled without campo, great player but not sure why! perhaps its because he seems to give more than 100%

If Bolton lose (they will) and Reading win (they're playing Derby... they will) it all comes down to goal difference.
At the moment there's a huge swing in Bolton's favour - they have 11 goals more than Reading. However he's about to face the most in form team in Europe, and they'll be completely fired up. A five or six nil could not be ruled out if Bolton don't take Chelsea seriously.
Meanwhile love to Derby leak goals - they've been on their holidays since May. If Reading finally remember how to score, and equally massive score line could be on the cards, and it'd be bye-bye Bolton.

All the ones who put extra effort into the games for the last 4 matches should be shown the door as they should have put the effort in for the previous 15 games. If at h-t we are losing 2-0 and Reading are winning 3-0 (not impossible surely) do we try to attack Chelsea to pull back the goals to give us a point? That's what we would be doing if the game was in January, we would play to equalise. But on Sunday its vital we keep the score down, we arent going to put 3 strikers on to make an attacking game of it, we are there on Sunday to make sure we only lose by 2 or 3 at the most. If its 3-0 we should be the one's keeping the ball by the corner flag! I dont care about being seen to do Man U a favour.
This should be pasted up in the Away dressing room on Sunday!!! from Chelsea Pies blog "Megson promises to "try" against Chelsea. Does he really not think the blues could put Bolton down? (Of Negson!!!) What an idiot Gary Megson is. He's been harping on today that he'll do Manchester United a favour and make sure his players don't treat the Chelsea game as a friendly. Does he really think Bolton can not go down? Is he that stupid. If Bolton lose (they will) and Reading win (they're playing Derby... they will) it all comes down to goal difference. Sir Alex and I know each other. But I haven't called anyone looking for favours to be done for us. I don't think you have to." Wow. Come on you Whites! Even in the US where it was a very strong brand it has been reduced to a sponsor name until the deals runs out and then changing the name to Addidas. Even here in the UK it is really only ourselves (i.e. Bolton Wanderers) that still keeps the brand name going but for how much longer. Again, here in the UK where Reebok were shirt manufacturers with their name on they have been replaced by addidas - so it really wouldn't surprise me if Bolton's new strip will have addidas somewhere on it - although the name Sponsor name will be kept to Reebok (or RBK) until at least the end of the sponsorship.

Campo must stay -- give him legs around him and let make things happen - open defences with telling passes. DONT ask him to run chas back tackle - good coaches use players strengths. Stellios is another good play maker give him another 12 months with Campo and use his strengths - Gardner and Jussi must stay but must want to stay. If Crouch is made an offer to compete with his current pay and he can see that he will be a regular key player rather than a bench warmer for a bigger club, he may consider a future at the Reebok. It is certainly worth pursuing as I think he would be a fantastic asset and find the net enough times to get us well up the table.
I think we need to be realistic, the Bolton of 2years ago as a top 8 club MAY have attracted the likes of Crouch & Riise.
Now we are seen as 4th favs for the drop next year (after the 3 prom clubs)so who in their right mind will come to Bolton when they can go to Spurs, City, Villa, West Ham etc for more £ and no relegation battle.
Thats assuming Ginger Mourinho persuades them to come in the first place!!
Sorry, but we have to be realistic, I believe the days of Youri, JJ, Hierro etc are gone....

The only players we'll be able to attract now will be prem players on their last legs, up and coming or established championship players like Commons at Forest, Trundle etc etc, and unheard of, or over the hill, foreigners who fancy a season or two earning big money in the premier league.

Shearer was hungry in his 30s, a lot of players in their 30s dont appear to be hungry. Phillips has been quality for about 15 years, I'm not saying sign him now, but 4 years ago when he signed for Villa people would have said he was too old, and he continues to be a class finisher. I dont care if players want a final payday if they have the class of Hierro, Djorkaeff, even a Dion Dublin. Roberts and Kamara were the partnership for Wigan in the Prem - Kamara scored against us in the league and Roberts in the league cup. They ripped us apart in both games. Neither are just goalscorers, they are strong, direct, fast, and can score, exactly what we need.

But what has "he's young" got to do with it? If we had signed (and played) Kevin Phillips a couple of years ago we might be doing better than we are now. McGinlay and Walker were near to 30 when we signed them. I really dont care about a players age, just sign some quality (Roberts and Kamara to renew their Wigan partnership would do for me).

They were the foundation of our defence last season and both were magnificent players in my book. Surely we could get Tal back for £4-5M? I think Riise would be a good signing too as he can also play left-hand side of midfield. We need some pace up front though and some quality to replace the outbound Campo,Stelios and Diouff.
What about getting Tal Ben Haim back, he's been left to rot & since his remarks in the press he won't get another chance. As much as A. O'B tries he's not first team quality but Tal & Cahill could be the backbone of the team, Riise from liverpool would add something too. Up front we need speed, nearly every team that has played at the Reebok has exploited us with pace,Lita may just re-ignite his career up here.

You havent seen much football on TV over the last 20 years if you havent seen Dublin regularly scoring excellent goals, getting into double figures and generally being a pain in the backside to play against. What a fantastic professional he has been for 2 decades, never international class but like Gary Speed, Kevin Phillips, Sheringham, Bergson, Stelios has the knack of not deteriorating with age. That was the point I was making - we need players with class, I dont care how young or old they are.
