We've not switched off - Megson

GARY Megson has played down Sir Alex Ferguson's astonishing allegations that his players have switched off and started partying.

The Manchester United chief ruffled Reebok feathers when he accused the Wanderers players of celebrating survival before tomorrow's final match at Chelsea - one of two Super Sunday fixtures that will decide the Premiership title.

He suggested Wigan Athletic players were "keyed up" for their JJB showdown with United, while their Bolton counterparts were too relaxed to give Chelsea a run for their money at Stamford Bridge.

But he conveniently ignored the fact that Wanderers are not mathematically safe while Megson defended his team's integrity.

The Bolton boss confirmed that a number of his players were out together in Manchester last Sunday night, 24 hours after beating Sunderland 2-0 in their final home game to all-but secure another season of top-flight football. But he has no fears that they will be fully prepared and fully focused on the Chelsea clash.

The entire squad reported for training at the Reebok on Monday morning.

"It is a fact that they were out," Megson said, dismissively.

"But, since Monday, there's six days before the game and they will be prepared, and everybody will be looking at us as to how we go about our work.

"Mathematically it's still not 100 per cent that we're safe yet.

"We need to go to Chelsea and do our very, very best. If Chelsea do beat us, they will have beaten a team that has pulled out all the stops."
