SPRING View emerged the unlucky victims of a rain-affected day of cricket which allowed Daisy Hill to open up a nine point gap at the top of the table.
View went into their home game against Walshaw hoping to preserve their 100 per cent record and to match their Westhoughton rivals.
They looked on course when they skittled out Walshaw for 111. Jamie Pilling with 52 and Gavin Nicholl, 33, were the only batsmen to make an impression as Bazid Khan took 5-40 and Mike Crookson 4-35.
Although View did their job with 15 overs to spare, the umpires decreed the match abandoned at 5.32pm, although according to captain Nigel Geary the rain had stopped and the pitch was fit for play.
Geary said: "The umpires put their coats on - not their umpiring coats, but the ones they were going home in - and that was it. We thought it was a very poor decision." Spring View shared the points with Walshaw, enabling Daisy Hill to cash in with a six wicket home win over Standish in a low scoring encounter.
Standish were all out for 74 with only Tony Kelly's 21 troubling the scorers. Shokat Patel starred with the ball for Daisy taking 6-43 in a devastating spell. Daisy knocked off the required runs in 21.4 overs for the loss of four wickets with Sean Brooks, 39, and professional Ali Zaidi, 20, guiding them to victory.
Meanwhile, the renaissance continued at Adlington who notched their second win on the bounce, this time against Astley and Tyldesley.
They posted a target of 224 with the loss of only four wickets with Sohaib Maqsood in outstanding form with a knock of 82. Nick Boden was 46 not out and other contributors were Chris Mulligan with 31 and Adam Slowinski, 26.
A&T were all out for 152 with only Jimmy Cutt, 39, and Roberts Cox, 30, shining with the bat. Maqsood continued doing the damage, this time with the ball, with 3-54 and Paul Shirley took 5-48.
Down the road, Blackrod could not live up to the promise of last week's win, although they put up a fight after slumping to 41-5 batting first against Atherton. Their innings ended at 150 all out with Saif Bhojani top scoring on 57, and Graeme Walsh getting 47 in a sixth wicket partnership of 98.
Dave Baines took 6-38 in 19 overs for Atherton who were set a target of 141 to win because of the rain.
They cruised to victory with pro Clinton Peake hitting 45 and Phil West notching 32.
Elsewhere, Darcy Lever are third in the league following a good win over visitors Little Hulton.
The home side scored 197 all out with Jack Southworth getting 96. In reply, Little Hulton were 134 all out. Dominic Gavin (5-40) and pro Chris Street (4-43) did the damage for Darcy.
Edgworth are hot on their heels, level on points, after their home win over Bury side Elton.
The hosts batted first and notched 161 for six in a match reduced to 28 overs each.
Jon Partington scored 40 and John Mills, 38, with Elton pro Steve Holt taking 3-75.
Elton could only muster 129 in reply with Abdeel Ali hitting 40 and youngster Ward 35.
Edgworth pro Tahir Maqsood took 5-56 in 12 overs.
Assocation new boys Flixton came unstuck at home to Golbourne after posting a score of 141-6. Although Rob Clews hit 76 and Phil Sidebottom 21, the visitors reached their target with the loss of only two wickets. Mike Taiaroa hit an outstanding knock of 73 and Rob Bennett was 42 not out.
