Sussex have snapped up Westhoughton professional Dwayne Smith in time for this year's Twenty20 Cup.
The last-ditch signing of the West Indian all-rounder will see him start his first spell in English county cricket when Sussex kick off their Twenty20 campaign against Kent at Canterbury tonight.
The 25-year-old from Barbados, who has played in 10 Tests and 71 one-day internationals, will take over from Mushtaq Ahmed while he recovers from a knee injury.
Smith has just returned from the Indian Premier League where he scored 45 runs and took five wickets in four appearances for Mumbai.
