Braaten: I have no Reebok regrets

WANDERERS misfit Daniel Braaten insists he does not regret his time in English football.

The 26-year-old striker joined Toulouse for an undisclosed fee last week after a miserable spell at the Reebok Stadium, during which he failed to make a Premier League start.

Signed by Sammy Lee for £450,000 from Rosenborg, he figured in eight of Lee's 12 games in charge at the start of last season. But when Gary Megson took over at the end of October he was restricted to just five more appearances in cup competitions.

He was consequently deemed surplus to requirements by Megson and included as a makeweight in the deal to land club record signing Johan Elmander.

But though the Norway international describes his time in England as "difficult," Braaten believes he has improved as a player.

"When I left Rosenborg for Bolton in 2007, the beginning was positive and I became established in the first two months," he said.

"Then after some negative results the manager who had recruited me was dismissed and a new trainer arrived with new players.

"I understood very quickly that he was not counting on me. Consequently, I spent one difficult season at Bolton, playing little.

"But it helped my career. I tried the experiment and it was enriching, therefore, I don't regret it.

"I have joined Toulouse and now I must try to find my best levels again."

Braaten has predicted that he can return to the kind of form which attracted Wanderers last summer.

"I'm at a big club in a big city and I believe I can carry out some beautiful things here," he added.
