Shamed midfield star Joey Barton will not be joining Wanderers on loan.
The £5.8m Newcastle United star, who was yesterday given a four-month suspended sentence for assaulting former Manchester City team-mate Ousmane Dabo, was linked in some newspapers with a loan move at the Reebok.
The 25-year-old is already in jail serving six months for affray and assault after a fight outside a McDonald's restaurant in Liverpool city centre on December 27 last year.
But Wanderers have denied reports that they are to offer Barton a chance to resurrect his career in the North-west.
