THREE local footballers have bounced back from the disappointment of being released by professional clubs to earn themselves contracts with one of Europe’s most established teams.
Liam Beswick, aged 16, Josh Lee, 15, and Hayden Paul, 16, have all signed two-year contracts with Hungary’s most famous club, Ferencváros.
The trio have been playing for Radcliffe Borough juniors since being released by their respective pro clubs.
Radcliffe-born Beswick, who is a defender, was on the books of Bolton Wanderers, midfielder Lee, Little Lever, was at Blackburn Rovers, and Prestwich striker Paul was rejected by Oldham Athletic. The three were signed up by Pro Vision, an academy run by former Manchester City and Bury defender Andy Hill that gives players a second chance.
And they got their dream come true when they were spotted by a Sheffield United scout. He recommended the players to their sister club Ferencváros, where former Bury owner Terry Robinson is chairman and ex-Leeds star Bobby Davison is manager. A fourth local lad, 15-year-old Kingsley Williams from Little Lever, has been given a contract by United themselves.
The lads will all be full-time at their respective clubs and the Hungarian contingent have already made their debuts for the Budapest-based club’s under-19s. For more information on Pro-Vision visit www.pro-vision-northwest.co.uk.
