Helguson and Dzemaili up for grabs

9:10am Friday 29th August 2008

WANDERERS will sell both Heidar Helguson and Blerim Dzemaili if Gary Megson is successful in landing his two remaining targets before the transfer window closes.

With just three days remaining before the summer deadline, the Whites boss admits time is running out for him to add new additions to his squad.

But should either of two bids on the table be accepted, The Bolton News understands that Helguson and Dzemaili will make way.

Bristol City and Charlton are front-runners for Iceland international striker Helguson, who came through 90 minutes in the midweek defeat to Northampton Town.

Italian club Torino want Dzemaili, who like Helguson, has been plagued with fitness problems since his arrival at the Reebok Stadium.

“It’s getting really close but there are a couple we are trying to get done,” Megson confirmed. “There is interest in two players that I am aware of. But we find ourselves in the position that we haven’t got a huge amount of players so we have to make sure if one goes out, one is certain to come in.

“Finance isn’t the issue, it is timing. We just want to try and get the right players in.

“We have got some decent players in and we are trying to improve on that but there are not a huge amount of players available.”

Megson will not be pursuing his interest in Jimmy Bullard after admitting last week that he was hoping to tempt the former Wigan midfielder back to the North-west.

And after letting the cat out of the bag with regards to the Fulham midfielder last week, the Wanderers boss was reluctant to say any more about the existing offers he hopes to tie up before Monday.

“I got told off last week talking about other teams’ players so I’ll shut up now,” he joked. “I got runaway gob, so I won’t make the same mistake again.”

Wanderers will have to do without Gary Cahill for the next three games after his suspension was confirmed by the Football Association yesterday.

Matty Taylor will also be missing for up to six weeks with a broken toe and club record signing Johan Elmander will also be out for at least a month with a hamstring injury.
