AMBITIOUS Daisy Hill manager Ian Street has recruited former Premiership striker Brett Angell to his backroom staff.

Angell, who made more than 500 appearances with 12 league clubs including Southend, Stockport, Everton, Sunderland, Walsall and QPR, is a qualified coach, worked with Street and his assistant, Carl Measey, at Warrington Town and will join the New Sirs set-up next week to help out on the coaching front.

“Brett getting involved is fantastic for myself and the lads,” Street said. “His methods and attitude are second to none. He will add a wealth of experience to the club.”

Daisy, who have won their first two matches in the Vodkat NW Counties First Division, have a tough test at home to Chadderton tomorrow.

“It will be a test of how far we have progressed as a team against a well established, strong club,” Street added.

Atherton Collieries travel to Nelson tomorrow looking for their first points in the NW Counties Premier Division.

Colls have had a torrid start to the season, but player-manager Dave Conlon is determined not to let heads go down.

They get a break from league action on Monday when they meet local rivals Atherton LR in the Goldline Trophy quarter-finals – provided LR’s FA Cup tie against Chorley does not go to a replay.

The match at Alder House kicks off at 7.45pm.
