AMIR Khan’s promoter Frank Warren has denied the new world WBA light-welterweight champion’s next fight will be against John Murray.
Freddie Roach, Khan’s American-based trainer, revealed the Bolton ace was set to face Manchester’s Murray in December.
But Warren says this is incorrect. A spokesman said: “Dimitry Salita is the mandatory challenger for Khan’s title and Warren is currently in negotiations with his promoters, plus Manchester’s Murray is not ranked by the WBA and could not fight him next.”
Khan, aged 22, defeated Andreas Kotelnik to become the new WBA king in July.
