Shittu's boys sneak a World Cup spot

DANNY Shittu’s Nigeria staged a dramatic comeback against Kenya to snatch a place in next summer’s World Cup finals.
Former Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins struck a late winner to seal a 3-2 win, which saw the Super Eagles sneak past Tunisia for the final African qualifying spot.
Although the Wanderers defender was a late withdrawal from the game with a hamstring injury, he can now look forward to earning a place in Amodu Shalibu’s squad bound for South Africa next June.
Elsewhere, Fabrice Muamba played 90 minutes as England Under-21s sealed a narrow 1-0 victory over Portugal in the European Championship Qualifiers.
Tottenham’s Danny Rose scored the only goal for Stuart Pearce’s side, who closed the gap on Group Nine leaders Greece to three points with a game in hand. Ivan Klasnic was a second-half substitute in Croatia’s 5-0 friendly victory over Liechtenstein, replacing Arsenal’s Eduardo after 58 minutes.
Chung-Yong Lee played in South Korea’s 0-0 draw with Denmark, and Sam Ricketts was one of Wales’s most impressive performers in a 3-0 victory over Scotland in Cardiff.
Gretar Steinsson featured for Iceland in their 1-1 draw with Luxembourg in Esch.
