Wanderers 0 Blackburn Rovers 2
WANDERERS home hoodoo against Blackburn continued as they slumped to another defeat against their neighbours.
David Dunn’s superb 32nd-minute opener and a Sam Ricketts own goal after half time mean Bolton have now not beaten Rovers at the Reebok in 10 attempts.
Their last home victory against Blackburn came in February 2000 and they never really looked like ending that run on a miserable afternoon for Gary Megson’s men.
Sam Allardyce missed his team’s victory and a return to his former club because he is due to have heart surgery next week.
But the Blackburn manager would have been delighted after his side picked up their first away points of the season to leave Wanderers in the bottom three.
Matt Taylor’s deflected free-kick struck the crossbar and, less than 60 seconds later, Rovers were ahead after Dunn curled his shot beautifully into the top corner after a lightning Rovers break.
Gavin McCann twice cleared headers off his own line before the visitors wrapped up victory on 73 minutes following a dreadful mix-up when Sam Ricketts headed Brett Emerton’s cross-field ball into an empty net after Jussi Jaaskelainen had inexplicably come rushing from his line.
