Wanderers trio going for goals

GARY Megson has backed his senior stars to lead Wanderers out of trouble.

The Whites boss is looking to his tried and tested this afternoon, as his side go in search of their first league win at Fulham in more than a decade.

Kevin Davies, Matt Taylor and Ricardo Gardner weighed in with 26 strikes between them last season, but have struggled in front of goal since Wanderers’ form took a turn for the worse at the end of last month.

Now, Megson, pictured, wants the trio to take the initiative once again, and fire Wanderers out of the Premier League’s bottom three.

“We need the people who were getting one in three and better last year to start sticking them away, and they will,” he said.

“All they have got to do is keep going, keep working hard.

“Matt has had chances and he has got a proven record of taking them.

“It’s the same with Kevin Davies, and we know that other people have got to chip in when they are not.”

Both Davies and Taylor have scored three goals this term, sharing the top scorer mantle with Tamir Cohen, who is back in contention at Craven Cottage after a groin strain.

Ricardo Gardner has also shaken off a calf injury to travel to West London, leaving Megson confident with his attacking options.

“The goals have stopped in the last four or fives games but it was only four or five weeks ago, we were talking about how pleased we were with the goalscoring of Tamir Cohen, Chung-Yong Lee and Gary Cahill,” he added.
