YOUTH FOOTBALL: The UK final of this year’s Tesco Cup will be staged for the third consecutive year at the Reebok Stadium on Sunday, May 16.
The competition — now in its fifth year — offers talented young footballers a chance to showcase their talents on Premiership turf.
It is run in conjunction with the Football Association and local communities and involves three age groups, under-13s boys, u14s girls and u16s girls.
More than 3,600 teams from 41 counties entered this season’s event and the Reebok showpiece will feature 12 teams from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales who will have won through local, regional and national finals.
English teams completed a clean sweep at the 2009 finals with Manchester United winning the u16s girls’, Manchester City taking the u14s girls’ title and Stokesley FC winning the U13s boys’ tournament.
